i dont think the boys will rock up to pre season thinking how bloody good that win in r22 was.

they will still feel good with all the optimism of new coach - 2 new top 5 picks - stevos return and a whole new season of chances

you cant seriously think losing the next few will mean the boys will be screwed and wont be able to go on because their psyches will be destroyed

Mark Waugh got 4 ducks in a row against Sri Lanka and went on to have a magnificent Test Career for Australia.

Yeah, but how much did he "make" when he made those 4 ducks?

Well Greg Chapell was playing well, the only thing he was doing wrong was getting out. For Waugh, well the failures hardly dented his confidence to succeed in the future.

I'll be much happier knowing this group of 22 kids will sleep better at night and enjoy their football more from the confidence they will gain from "junk time" wins, than having a precocious 18 year old walking into a club full of losers.

One extra gun player wont make much difference but 1 extra win this year is the difference between the whole squad being losers or not?

Funny thing is, sometimes, one gun player CAN make a difference and win a game or a lot of games off his own boot.

No guarantee he is going to be the #1 pick though so we have no sure thing with #1 or #3 for that matter but if we get them both, it is twice as likely.
I agree with the moderates. Let's just play the season out and take what we get. I was pleasd with the effort last weekend. It was a heap better than previous weeks under Denis.
The players will be pleased with the improvement but disappointed with the loss.
We all know the players won't play to lose and we all know the coach won't coach to lose.
We all know the board want us to lose but it is out of their hands to a large extent.
What nobody seems to have addressed is how the players will feel AFTER the season is over.
If a poll were taken in September with the following question:
Would you prefer pick#2 or picks #1 & #3, it would be a shoe-in that they would want the 1 & 3.
Interesting how things change. Years ago we never got a top 10 pick and we were happy with that too, because we were winning. Not premierships every year, but meaningless games that got us up the ladder.
Another thing is, the players will be happy to get either of the above options.
We should be the same.
I think that's how I feel. I'll be happy with what we get because we will have earned them either way.
Asking me now only results in feelings of confusion. I hate losing but in the long term interests of the club, we all know that two top three picks is mathematiclly more probable to deliver a star than is one.

Funny too how almost every thread has turned into a to tank or not thread.... :(

because this sytem is a pox on football.

we have the reality tv football show

and every moron and his dog thinks they can influence the result.

Its like as a kid when we lost I'd think 'shit if I had have turned away, or not gone, or gone, or turned the radio off, or on...' that my action could have changed the result.

so thats how people feel, thats how the media present it, thats how the system fools us.

truth is not a single supporter influences the result. there are no buttons, no phone calls, no emails or sms texts to make

and worse

this sytem is slowly making Richmond supporters of us all.

ditch the coach

tank the season

sack the board

change the jumper

shift the ground

we want our say

its our game - mind you, most of us were shithouse at playing it, still, its our game.....

Go Blues

and finally, slowly, it would be nice to have picks 1 and 3

but I fear my desires have little to do with the team's.

as a supporter I am supposed to attune myself to their desires...

nowadays we expect them to attune to ours..

bullshit danny.

you know as well as I do that if the opposition score a goal, and you immediately turn the radio off, it guarantees us the next centre clearance.

works every time.

I used to be like that too danny. It got to the point where I was so superstitious that I declared if I stopped being superstitious we would have a great chance of winning.

I think we all did it....its just that some still do...

even my son, watching him sometimes, he will look down at his record while the play is going on and I know he's hoping to influence the outcome with his act....

and its a well known fact that without a footbalkl record and a pen we will lose

and if we lose anyway it was the wrong pen

or the wrong record....

So will you finally accept that not changing your undies is ridiculous?

A Richmond supporter mate of mine ( ) was convinced that because they changes their jumpers back to include the yellow sash on the back , it would result in wins and premierships  .

Apparently they removed the sash from the back in 1981 - Obviously the beginning of the end when that decision was made :? .

I always remind him that only beauty queens and show ponys wear sashes.
