Just to clarify to everyone:

Lance Whitnall is 27 years old

Bit premature to call for his retirement a year after he was our B&F.

What was Shirley Temple doing when she was 27 . Do you know?

Its all systems ahead now for the young kids.

As nice as you may think that sounds, it isn't up to the club to retire him. That's HIS decision. Yep, we can put him on the LTI list.

Wasn't it great to see a young jamieson play so well on saturday??
Rather see a kid like him play then a broken down overweight unprofessional footballer.

The way I see it is that Lance is heading down the same path as Jarrod Molloy. Couldn't keep up with the pace of the game when he last played and retired. The game has become even faster and Lance still can't keep up with it.

B+F or no B+F, he should be asked to retire or we can delist him and then he can retire.

He has no market value whatsoever.

..i've always beena fan of the big red, but this isn't an age issue.. ..he's got a degenerative knee problem, in an article last week or so when Ratts spoke about Lance playing possibly a fortnight in the two's, that basically his future depended on how his knee was holding up.. ..if it doesn't hold stead against the rigours of AFL he won't be around.. ..and that's what it's all about now.. ..there's no question marks about his skill, it's now only a question of whether his body will let him play with that skill..

Well then he may move into an assistant coach role, where match day fitness is not a prerequisite.

If he had something else enormous, he could follow Warwick Capper's lead and move into porn.

Well he would need a number of fluffers to put him into performance conditioning.

Bullants coach Barry Mitchell was pleased with Whitnall's performance but unsure whether he would require another hitout in the VFL before returning to the AFL.

"I don't know. That's not my decision," Mitchell said.

"We played him around a little bit at the start and I thought forward he was OK for about 15 minutes in the third quarter.

"That was the only amount of time we were allowed to play him.

"He was only going to play two and a bit quarters.

Well now...

where in that quote does it say Mitchell "was pleased with Whitnalls performance"?
All I see is "he was ok"!

What she was doing on camera at age 27 was probably real, just like punky brewster!

You're a pro tanker... surely you want Whitnall to play this week?

Actually this worries me a bit too. Mainly becuase he rarely demanded enough of himself to be at his peak fitness. I'm not convinced that he would be able to motivate players as a coach if possibly they don't respect his commitment.
