Blackwell will be a very good player for us as he gets more game time.
Bentick is a handy player, but his longevity will be shortened by a few more draft picks IMHO.
Blackwell will end his career with a higher games tally and be more highly regarded.

Neither are up to AFL Standard.

Both are lucky to be on an AFL list.

It says a lot about our list.

Obviously you're a glass half empty type, Moaty. Just the sort we don't need around here any more. Go watch the Weagles mate, while I watch the young Blues build a future. We have got a good list, and our new coach will now begin to develop it.

Moaty is a realist and honest ( and a fair judge).......and you seem to be one of those supporters that thinks every kid that pulls on a Carlton jumper is highly talented.

Bentick would have to be the worst regular centre square player in the leaugue and has no pace,no weapons in his game and very little upside.
He will not last long.
Blackwell has more talent but still needs to improve a lot to make the grade

Blackwell played pretty well today for someone who "shouldn't be on an AFL list". Bentick.......agreed. He's just too slow, and unless you've got great skills and awareness (he's got neither), the AFL ain't for you.

Under Ratts, I think its becoming obvious that perhaps we DO have a fair bit of young talent on our list. Reckon Kennedy and Anderson will blossom next year too. Throw in Stevens and Cloke and we'll win a fair few games.

But then again, perhaps I need a dose of "realism" ????. I reckon Pagan had heaps of realism.........

Hard to see us losing to the Dees, but if we do, Kreuzer will be a lovely addition.

blackwell is better than carrazzo the same age when blackwell is 23y.o he will be much better player than carrots is today.

carrazzo is a gun but blackers will be special...

bentick is tough as nails but far too slow in his decision making, gets found out too many times, nice blue collar player but not enough weapons in the armoury to make it beyond round 5 2008.

The thing is with Blackwell it probably take him longer then most to get his best, his father was good for Claremont but he was i think like 24 when he first played at Carlton when he was becoming real good.

Blackers took a big step at the weekend with a few Daniel Kerr like moments.

I'm really struggling with Benchy. Far to slow in his decison making.

I think we'll need to give Blackwell much more time on the list given his size. Those are pretty flimsy arms but going on bloodlines he should be able to add some bulk at some point. It may take a few years but as a linkman he's doing pretty good.

One thing that worries me is his trademark burrow-out-of-packs move that reminds me of Jimmy Plunkett's only way to get the ball out. Another little guy with little kicks but great desire. Hopefully with some extra size over the years he may be able to impose a little more a la Kerr, Cousins.

Bentick - well, I think he's struggling at the moment.

I was happy with both of them vs Collingwood.....Blackwell is more comfortable at senior level, his thinking and disposal are sharper and is getting more value from his possies.
Some of you are very hard on Bentick.........if he was more selfish he could probably pick up another ten possies a game but prefers to create opportunities for others by going the shepherd, knocking the ball out etc...

Actually it's usually that way because his direct opponent is winning the tap half the time.

At least he tackles them when it happens... *sigh*
