Carlton, Freo on safari

Quote:
CARLTON and Fremantle are set to play an exhibition game in South Africa in February as part of the AFL's renewed international expansion.

The clubs have been allocated areas of South Africa to develop by the AFL and see an exhibition game as the ideal vehicle to promote the code during community camps there early next year.

This can only be a positive experience for these kids. Not only does it give us an opportunity to get a first-look at future talent, but also for the kids to get a taste of what life is like elsewhere in the world, and to see what sort of difference they can make to someone's life.

Meanwhile, the Filth will be playing an exhibition game at the Dubai Polo Club...yeah, I'm sure Eddie will see to it that their accomodations toughen them up

Sounds like a great bonding experience for a young group to me. I'm sure they'll have a ball.

Maybe this could also be their "Kokoda", camping out and trekking through the wilderness with only the barest essentials.

Maybe they'll put him in a cage with Vance, Prender and Davies and let them out for shooting practice

South Africa is too high for the most part for malarial mosquitoes. It does depend on which part of SAF they are going to.

Ethiopia, Uganda, Kenya, Tanzania - that's different.

I think the forest areas around Durban are prone to malaria but not the city itself. If you are west of the mountains around Durban you are ok so J'burg and Capetown are ok I believe. I'm sure someone from SA can confirm.

Interesting that West Coast have been given Natal as an area to devlep - very rich in sporting talent. Anyone know which provence we have been given??
