Unfortunately our offspring will probably support Thugby League or the Swines .. I would dearly love to be able to take him / her / them to the footy and show them a real code (and have that reinforced by a one-, 11-, or 101-point reaming) and a real team

My mum made a papertole with blue teddy bears playing footy .. I hope it's the right blue .. with her memory and my late step-father's sense of humour it will probably be white hooped or white striped with the blue ...

Great thread.

Living in Perth this has been a constant challenge since my son was born (2001 as we were starting to slide). Thankfully his Mum has got on board so that we have a united anti-Eagles and Dockers front. For me the keys have been:

Teaching and constant singing of the song from day 1
Going to games and family days/functions when they are in Perth
Phone calls from Nanna and Pop to talk Carlton - this is a good one.
At least one trip to Melbourne each year for a game (with my mates and their Carlton kids - happens to be this week :) )
Bribery - jumper, doona, flag, football, posters etc

The hardest has been this year since Auskick has started and almost all the other kids are running around in Eagles jumpers with "3" on the back. Anyway, Tom still goes with his Navy Blues jumper and wears it with pride.

(He also has a passionate hate of Collingwood, Essendon* and Port Adelaide so even if one day he defects he will never follow any of those)

Go Blues

I think you have things well under control.... defection won't be a problem I' sure. :)

Tell the kids that this is what supporting the filth will make of you. Kind of like the cancerous pictures on cigarette packets.

Scary... thats one to put up on the fridge people to warn the kids against barracking for Collingwood.. and as an added bonus stop them from eating too much junk food as well!! ;)

Is that "hanging out" so he can lick it whenever he wants?

We've got a bun in the oven... So I've already started singing to Mum's belly. My only concern is that my voice is so bad it may put her off the song forever.

btw, thanks for all the good advice. One of the best thread's ever. Jars, please add a section to the Bluseum.

I agree that does sum up the filth. Very humble of you to admit that.

One of the ideas that has been floated around for the Blueseum is to include a section called something like the 'Parents Handbook' which would give tips and tricks about how to have your kids (and others) grow up barracking for Carlton.

Jars, that would be a superb addition.

TalkingCarlton Forum Index -> TalkingCarlton :P

Don't pretend you don't all love me here. Without me to hate you'd have to turn on each other.

Oh, wait.....
POW second runner-up

(BTW - we don't all turn on each other .. only a couple turn on the rest of us, and the rest are here to talk footy!
