Happy to report in my family its been all Carlton from the beginning. When my old man came out 60 years ago some of his relatives (filth supporters) tried to convert him by taking him to a match between Carl and Coll.

As soon as Coll ran out he took one look at the jumper and was ill. He told them it looked like death warmed over. He said I'm with the other team. The other team won that day. He lived in Carlton for years and looking back I can't imagine how different life would have been if he chose differently.

I guess I'd be wearing a straight jacket, have no teeth, spit when I spoke, have needles hanging out of my arm, have no footy dvd collection, have no great footy memories and probably be a manic depressive. Yep thanks Dad...Luv ya!!!!!!!

I just watched Carlton games on TV with Lil' Miss Wojee, she soon figured it out.

My grandmother grew up in Carlton and supported the Blues. Somehow my dad grew up a Collingwood supporter but my brothers and sisters all managed to turn out Carlton supporters and now we've converted the old man to Blue too!

Don't pretend you don't all love me here. Without me to hate you'd have to turn on each other.

I announced to our guests during my speech on my wedding day that our kids would be barracking for Carlton. Wife barracks for Hawthorn. Our first has since arrived and at 9 and a half weeks old he smiles more for the Carlton song than any other - especially loves the 'da da da da daar' bit.

I'm with you Dom, except I had a mother who was a Scum supporter, but the whole family is Blues thru and thru.

But for the flowering life of me, all the in-laws are filth supporters!

Only last night, we were watching the last qtr of the 99 Prelim and I could see that she was going to barf, but like the good woman that she is, she kept it all inside.

Scum and filth supporters have been bottling it up inside for many years now when it comes to Carlton.

Great thread.

Living in Perth this has been a constant challenge since my son was born (2001 as we were starting to slide). Thankfully his Mum has got on board so that we have a united anti-Eagles and Dockers front. For me the keys have been:

Teaching and constant singing of the song from day 1
Going to games and family days/functions when they are in Perth
Phone calls from Nanna and Pop to talk Carlton - this is a good one.
At least one trip to Melbourne each year for a game (with my mates and their Carlton kids - happens to be this week :) )
Bribery - jumper, doona, flag, football, posters etc

The hardest has been this year since Auskick has started and almost all the other kids are running around in Eagles jumpers with "3" on the back. Anyway, Tom still goes with his Navy Blues jumper and wears it with pride.

(He also has a passionate hate of Collingwood, Essendon* and Port Adelaide so even if one day he defects he will never follow any of those)

Go Blues

Tell the kids that this is what supporting the filth will make of you. Kind of like the cancerous pictures on cigarette packets.

You can tell by the need for fake teeth that she is a collingwood supporter.

Very happy with my 4y/o. He hates the 'Mud-pies" laughs at 'Stink Kilda' (who doesn't?) and absolutely mocks Dorks fans wherever they may be.

Job done.
