Hes done it all. Dancing with the stars, AFL premiership, all thats left now is for him to go on ItTakes2 :)

And we shall be forever grateful that he didn't dance with his sister (at least not that we know of...)

We remember watching his progress thru the U19's into the Reserves.

He was a Champion athlete; especially in the Hurdles and High Jump; and we knew he was quick; but always wondered whether he would use his speed to advantage playing footy.....and indeed; if he would make it at all.

He made it alright; with 19 possessions before half time in the '95 Grand Final !

At his top; he was like a super athletic version of Jim Hird.....he could Ruck and then Ruckrove; play a Key Position front or back......save goals at one end then in the blink of an eye; kick an inspirational goal at the other end.......he had the lot.

He was described as the Archetypal Model of the Supreme AFL player; and was acknowledged as the best player in Australia.

Thanks Kouta.....everything you did....you did with style; including today.

I've actually felt a bit sad watching Kouta over the last 2 years (give or take a magic moment or two).....

but today I just can't imaging Carlton without Kouta... it just does not compute.

Know what you mean. Definitely is the end of an era as our last premiership player bows out.

He did indeed Bluedog.

INFACT, believe it or not, he was actually down at Victoria Park when the pies won the 1990' flag.

Ahhhhhhhhhh, well.............. he saw the light eventually!

I'm really upset about this whole retirement thing. I guess i always knew it was coming. But i really do hope he stays on with the club next season. Maybe as a part-time midfield coach or perhaps a role with developing. The kids seem to like him.

Well done Kouta on a long and successful career

All careers come to an end

You should have retired last year

The club was silly to offer you a one year deal

Todays game the way its played cant afford to have ageing players warming the bench for half it

Its the way the game is played

Still despite this you were at your peak the best player in the comp and you revolutionised the game to some extent

I hope the club of load Lappin and Whitnall at the end of the season as I feel the game has passed them buy or is about to

Good luck in the future Kouta.

No disrespect to Gary Crane or anything, but I think that if they selected our team of the century now they could probably find a spot for Kouta on the wing.

Some Kouta highlights

As good as any player in his prime. For mine he lacked the consistency over his entire career to be a champion of the game, injuries probably stopped him from reproducing his best.

Kouta, all the best in your retirement.

He's a champion in my book, at his best he was Judd and J. Brown rolled into one.

Thanks for the great memories Kouta (and there are plenty of them). All the best for the future. The last link to 1995 ....... we are now officially orphaned. :(

Well I came by your house the other day, your mother said you went away
She said there was nothing that I could have done
There was nothing nobody could say
Me and you we've known each other ever since we were sixteen
I wished I would have known I wished I could have called you
Just to say goodbye bobby kouta

Now you hung with me when all the others turned away turned up their nose
We liked the same music we liked the same bands we liked the same clothes
We told each other that we were the wildest, the wildest things we'd ever seen
Now I wished you would have told me I wished I could have talked to you
Just to say goodbye Bobbykouta

Now we went walking in the rain talking about the pain from the world we hid
Now there ain't nobody nowhere nohow gonna ever understand me the way you did
Maybe you'll be out there on that road somewhere
In some bus or train traveling along
In some motel room there'll be a radio playing
And you'll hear me sing this song
Well if you do you'll know I'm thinking of you and all the miles in between
And I'm just calling one last time not to change your mind
But just to say I miss you baby, good luck goodbye, Bobby kouta

Even the filthy supporters on Nick's Pies Page are applauding his career

That confirms he is a CHAMPION.

When I saw the news flash one of the first things I thought of was ryan2000 is going to be shattered.

Time for the Kouta tribute dvd :-D

Im not going to contribute anything that hasn't been said already. Lets remember Kouta as the dominating player he was over 3 distinct phases of his career.

1993-1998 The althletic, dashing wingman

1999-2000 The extractor who David Parkin rated as the best hard ball winner he'd ever seen, who was still able to cover the ground, but also able to use his strength to float forward and pull down huge pack marks.

2001-2007 More grounded and slowed by injury, but still able to win the hard ball

Thanks for all the great memories Kouta!!

Farewell, Kouta.

Thanks for the service, and all the highlights of your great career.

I hope Kouta stays around the club to mentor some of the kids. He's a quality bloke, as well as having been a great player of the game, and was a credit to the game of AFL, and Carlton.
