Farewell to a great champion, if not for injuries would have surpassed Hird as the greatest player in the last 10 years.

Did he make the Italian team of the century also?

Wow
Farewell Kouta

I suppose I'll have to get down to the Souv. bar in Templestowe, to show everyone a true great for the Navy Blue.

All good things come to an end.

The real sad point was made earlier. It's the first time since 69 that we haven't had a Premiership player run around in a game.

We really did take a long time to fall.

Get behind the NEW BREED as we rise again just like the Pheonix!

WE WILL RETURN!!

That would be 68.

A true gentleman, a true champion of the club and the game.

Thanks big guy! A privilege to watch you play in the navy blue.

And that's the last of our premiership players gone now...

Yes, that's sad. This will be the first time we have not had a Carlton premiership player take the field since about 1968 won't it?

Almost 40 years, that's a pretty solid effort.

It's sad to see the great man go out like this. Its a damm shame that Carlton supporters cannot say thank you in one last game.

Many Thanks Kouta for many wonderful memories of your on field exploits.

It is a sad day for Carlton also as for the first time since 1968 we no longer have a Carlton Premiership player in the team.

That and the $700K (or whatever it is) extra in the salary cap are the positives from this announcement. Oh and now Allison will have more time to dedicate to Hamill.

Thanks Kouta and congratulation for all you have done for the Blues over the course of your career.

You are a true champion of our Club.

The memories you have provided to me when you were at your best are priceless. I will never forget the spine tingling feeling when the crowd at Princes Park were chanting "kouta, kouta" as you tore games apart.

You were always an absolute gentleman and treated supporters with respect and dignity.

Enjoy your retirement Kouta.
Always tried his heart out and made all average men feel inadequate due to his amazing muscle tone. Onya Kouta.

A sad day. One of the nicest guys to have pulled on the navy blue. I hope he stays involved with the club.

Kouta was awesome on his day, handing the likes of Michael Voss a complete bath. He had the perfect physique for football and I've always maintained that even his shit has muscles.

You'll be missed big guy

Thanks for the memories Kouta. You had that rare ability to be a champion player and a champion person. Good luck in your retirement.

Absolute champion of the game. Althought he did cost me some money by not winning the brownlow...thought he was an absolute shoe in even though he missed a couple with injuries.

All the best Kouta! Hope to bump into you at Souvlaki Hut.
