What the hell was Ratten thinking when he had a number one pick tagging Montagna?

Murphy should be hunting the ball, not tagging and minding his opponent. :x

Where's the outrage? :?

Sack Ratten!

Well hello....

Haven't been here for a long time...

You played well and your future looks sound...

I am not on here to bloat about the Saints win and I believe posters that know me will realise that...

The poster that suggested that Ratten should be sacked for having Murphy tagging Montagna clearly has no idea IMO

Montagna is the number one for possessions at the saints and prior to playing your lot he was averaging over 25 possessions a match...

In tonight's match he gathered 13 possessions so I say full credit to your coach, and the poster I have quoted has no flower clue

Pro - Eddie Betts laid the first tackle that stuck against Lenny Hayes in Carlton v St Kilda history.

Pros:
- (our) Fisher another great game. Hard leading and presenting
- Betts very good
- Lappo stepped it up in his 250th - should play on next year under a proper coach
- NRS Jacko was excellent

Overall walked away a happy man despite the loss.

Pro's
-------

-> Signs of some form of accountability
-> The use of the interchange bench and the ability through that to run out the game in the final period. It has been a while since we have won a final term so convincingly.
-> Murphy's job on Montagna
-> Jackson was sensational, not many people can say they have beaten Robert Harvey too often, and Jacko clearly did
-> Eddie's work both defensively and around the clearances
-> Saddington in the final quarter on Reiwoldt
-> Carrots in general, he is a ball magnet
-> Fev's much improved attitude which included supporting his teammates at every occassion. Chasing, Tackling etc was there yesterday.
-> Bower showed some signs

Con's
---------
-> The ruck is still an issue.
-> Wiggler, who had a decent start doing his hammy.

Pros:
A lot more enthusiasm shown by all
Jackson
Murphy
Seeing the saints supporters really sh*tt*ng themselves for the first time in 4 years

Cons:
Their loose backman had a say in the result .... ours didn't

Side note:
One day (when we get a ruckman or two) I'd like to see Setanta play the Adam Goodes role

Much more competative..

JACKSON!

Ratts or Voss as coach will be a great choice....

Did anyone notice voss talking up Bower?

After a piece of play he said "looks like there's something there with Bower"

I took it as something a coach would say to his players to try and give them some inner belief.......

Has Voss already started his job..

It was good to see Fev back doing some team things and chasing down opponents etc. His arsey right-angle bounces have come back to him too!

Jacko was a revelation for me - I'd not really seen much of him previously (due to the Pagan "no possessions in 60 seconds means you're off young fella" rule).

Betts tackle on Hayes was a goody.

Some of Eddie's centre clearances in the last quarter were great viewing too.

I'm not going to talk about cons - there's been enough of that this year to last many seasons.

Give him a break. He's obviously damaged, being a St Kilda supporter.

Funnily enough, that was the vibe I got from an old Saints fan who gave me a greasy look after I cheered a goal. It must suck to be them when the Eagles, Hawks, Pies and Cats are the real up and coming superpowers. 8)

PRO's.
Jacko's game - great effort. Made a couple of little errors but he will learn so much from the game.
Gibbs playing in the midfield - we have so much to look forward to with him & Murph in the middle in the coming years.
Saddington's role on Riewoldt - was crap as the loose man but I thought he did really well in the last quarter.
Fev - the spark looked to be back this week.
Fisher - his marking is outstanding.
Lappin - great 250th game.
It was great to see some past players there, I would assume to offer some support to Ratts - Matty Allan stood at the players race for the 1st quarter. Also saw Barnaby French there.

CON's.
Ackland - why why why??? I cannot stomach that guy, he makes me ill.
Wiggins hamstring injury.
Saddington playing loose man role in defence - he was shocking.
Kouta - injured himself but really didn't look too good out there.

Overall, you can't be disappointed with the game we played. It was great to see the saints supporters so worried too.

Pro's......a feeling of rebirth......a rising of the Phoenix from the Ashes.

To go with that.....Jackson especially and Bower.....and a more positive flowing game from Saddington......it'll take a while 'tho....

Ratts wanted spirit.....they showed spirit in the last quarter; Betts doing a Scott West at the centre clearances.

Con's.......that it took so long to happen; and we desperately need a Ruckman.

Big positive - Ryan Jackson in only his second full game.
I kept a close watch on Jacko b/c the kid has impressed me every time I have seen him. He is far and away the strongest aerobic runner at the club but he really had to use it all today to go with Harvey - jeez that dude runs hard - Jacko was fully extended to go with Harvey but the kid did an outstanding job. We have no other player on our list who could have kept up with Harvey the way Jacko did.

Harvey clearly lowered his colours to Jacko, who also went to the bench whenever Harvey did, and who was also effective in his use of the ball - not only in a defensive role.

The only major contributions by Harvey came when he got back on the ground before Jacko could be subbed back on and every single time Harvey ran away from the other guys. On one occasion, he ran from the left HBF to the right FP to create a score for the Saints, he went past Blackwell in the middle of the ground but Blackie just let him go and stayed on his own.

On another occasion Jacko was already on the ground when Harvey came back on and had to run almost the length of the ground to pick him up because nobody else wanted to go near him.

Pros

* Jackson played an outstanding game (already been said)
* last quarter
* more run and handball
* Murph the tagger – great way to shake a tag (Baker)
* Saddington's last quarter on Riewoldt and his smother
* JR, especially last quarter

Cons

* Gibbs is playing injured. Put the cue in the rack and set him up for '08
* Heath Scotland – does anyone have his efficiency stats?
* Still some half hearted efforts – Bower must commit to smother

PROS:

Jackson - ripper game from this youngster. Looks a great draft pick up. Hooray........we might've "pinched one".

Betts in the midfield. Surely his highest possession game ever ? Will be a real asset as on ball/resting fwd pocket next year.

Murph's tagging job. Towelled up his opponent.

Next year's midfield: Stevens, Murph, Carrots, Jacko, Gibbs, Eddie rotating !! (bye bye Bentick). Now for a ruckman and watchout 8)

Bower. Real dash. Will be a star for us and very hard to match up on.

Ratts as coach. Loved his after match comments too. Anyone who wants Voss is flowered. Ratts is THE MAN :)

CONS:

Unless we "rest" half a dozen, we'll beat the Dees and even the Filth and Ess. See ya Kreuzer.

Pros

- More pros then cons!
- Fev 1 on 3 and still kicked 5
- Jackson proved he is an AFL standard player. Hard runner who know's where to run
- Ratten
- No Pagan
- The run of Simmo off HB
- Looking for the leading forward not just bombing it long to the hot spot(hey Denis  )
- A 10 point loss with Gherig and Riewoldt running riot that usually leads to a 70+ thrashing.
- 390 disposals  I know its over possessing but would rather see the team share it around instead of the 240 disposal efficient collision football (hey Denis  )
- Lappin Carrazo Betts Fisher
- 1 step closer to Kreuzer

Con's

- Nothing at CHF (Lappin basically had to cover it himself)
- Sentanta yes big potential give's 100% and a site favourite but still has a long way to go. Not a ruckman and gave very little at CHF. Russell had to tell him to get on the goal line when he was in the ruck for a St Kilda shot on goal. He made it only halfway when the ball went through when Thornton gave him a massive spray for not getting down in time.
- Thornton didn't want him traded last year but after his year so far I would this year. Gone backwards and still playing the old blame game.
- Waite is a gun forward not a gun back
- Saddington was poor as a loose man. Did well in the last 1/4 on Riewoldt but by that time Nick was spent. Riewoldt was close to spewing during the 3/4. His hard running is as good as any midfielder
- Russell who did have a good last 1/4 but he needs to take a leaf out of Jackson's hard running book.
- Gibbs showed signs but he needs to get out of 1st gear
- We need more KP talent as we still struggle to compete with the better talls in the AFL. We are thrashed in the air most games
- Ackland
