Two things are certain:

Firstly, the coach will be out of Voss, McKenna & Ratten.

Secondly, no matter who we choose the debate will continue over the off season and early next year around 'did we select the right coach?' - 'we should have got that guy' - 'he's no good' - 'we selected the right coach', etc.

Let's get right behind the guy that's selected and look to the long term with him - it will be the players that will execute the coaches plan, and let's just hope ALL the players get behind the new coach, and embrace and conform to what he has planned!!!!

How do you know its "certain" the coach will be out of these three?

It certainly looks that way - cannot see any other coach getting the gig outside of these three.

We will not get a discarded coach, and is extremely unlikely an existing coach will jump ship and come to us.

Out of all assistants, these are the favourites for Carlton. There will be others that will be interviewed, don't get me wrong, but ultimately, it will come down to one of these three.

My gut feeling is that if Ratts puts in a simple pass mark up until R22 that he will be our coach in 2008. I won't be surprised if I'm wrong, but my initial gut reaction is the job is his so long as he doesn't stuff up the caretaker's gig.

Interesting thought, Liam, however, wouldn't we look a bit silly if we appointed Ratts off the back of 7 games and 'not stuffing up' without going through the full process?

What's more, if we went through the full process of looking for a coaching and Ratts still did what he was asked to and was still given the job, wouldn't that make the process a farce? Similar to the one that Grant Thomas admitted to going through back when he got the Saints job?

I understand that your point is made purely on a gut feeling, but if we are to do this right, I think their should be no conditions put on anyone and every candidate should come in to the interviewing process with the same chance of succeeding.

I've got no doubt the club will interview other candidates, I'm not suggesting they won't. Put it this way, I think this will be a good litmus test to see how much influence Sticks has now that Swann and Icke are on board.

Now that Swann and Pratt have each said that Voss is a person of interest for the Coaching job and........that Ratts is saying he will apply for any Coaching positions that appeal; it's back to square one as far as after this season is concerned.

What do you mean by that Warby?

Interesting to see that the coaching selection panel is Swann, Icke, Kernahan and Gleeson. Would it be fair to assume that Kernahan and Gleeson will vote for the same candidate regardless?! Also, what influence, if any, will Pratt have in rubber stamping the chosen coach?

I think all Pratt will be doing is listening to whatever Swann has to say and saying "Ok then, off you go"

Well Liam.....in different interviews on different days to different reporters; Pratt and Swann have each agreed that on the face of it.....Voss could make a good Coach......(and he has since had a preliminary talk to Carlton)

Then.....Ratts has declared more than once that he will apply for any Coaching job that appeals......obviously including Carlton; and probably Melbourne I would think.

So....it's possible that we could lose both of them to other Clubs; putting us back to square one for a Coach......(I did say "possible")

Until very recently.....when Pratt has been asked (more than once) "Do you think Voss would be a good Coach at Carlton?".....he has always answered with a smile "Who's Voss?"......since Pagan's gone; he "knows who he is"...........

The new young coach who is to experience success at Carlton during a time of war in the world is probably going to be Brett Ratten.

Voss isnt out of the picture, but Ive always felt that the vibe is with Brett.

The destiny of the next Carlton coach is one of success, greatness and fame at a time when we will all need to have a distraction from the world and also a good pair of walking shoes or a pushbike.

However if you can set are able to afford to drive or else if you were one of the wise ones that converted to an alternative fuel in time, the traffic will be a breeze. Parking at the ground will be a snap too - plenty of spots to choose from..

But for many, Public Transport to Princes Park to see the reserves play - will be packed and the food at the ground may well be all but unaffordable (well it was always on the pricey side anyway).

Very casual comment. Insert to your coaching list JOHN KENNEDY AND WAYNE SCHIMMELBUSCH as WAYNE CAREY'S former coaches

Had to laugh at Carey on Ch.9 saying that Denis was by far the best Coach he ever had.....understandable seeing that Pagan coached him for the majority of his career including Premierships won in no small measure by the dominance of Carey as the main focal weapon used in Pagan's Paddock.

Carey's been blowing smoke up pagan's arse since we gave him the flick. Last night on Ch9 was sickening. Someone said that Ratts did a good job on Saturday, someone else mentioned that Saddington played and Carey chimed in (complete with smug shit-eating grin on face) with:

"And they sacked Denis Pagan because he wasn't playing the kids".

Give it a rest flower. Just because Pagan's probably the one person who didn't think you were a scumbag for poking your best friend's wife, doesn't mean you have to keep defending Denis' honour at every possible opportunity.

Carey might have been involved in 5 premierships if he had another coach.

We will never know....
