Glen Archer (god love him) put it on the players last night on FC.
It got me thinking......where is the response?
Imagine if he'd got stuck into the Pies...... Eddie, Bucks...would've been on
the front foot telling him to worry about his own club.
Where was our captain Lance, Kouta anyone replying in the media today?
We've become the softest club in the AFL, being walked over by everyone
like the Lions and Saints of old.
This is the main reason we should appoint Voss, we need leadership, mongrel, committment, and if you don't want to play for the jumper, flower off!

Well said champ. All this sentimental crap about Ratten makes me want too spew my guts out.........getting past champs back to the Tigers who blead black and yellow has got them in the shit they are in now.How many have there been ? about 8.That is pathetic sentimental take the easy way out type thinking that will see us sitting on the bottom for the next twenty years...................oh ! by the way.Wasnt it Ratten that cracked the darks when Pagan told him to get in the gym and pump a bit of iron. The same bloke that left the Dees after 12 months with a lot of people scratyching there heads wondering why ?
No mate,go outside coz the records of favourite sons returning to there former clubs to regain glory is pretty shithouse.Forget it ! its nothing more than fantasizing and wishfull thinking.

PS..........i am not a keyboard coward.I will be writing to the club expressing these views.Name and adress supplied.

I dont think Richmonds problem has been favourite sons. Wallace and Northey were hardly all-time legends of the club. They were at least as successful as hated enemy Robert Walls, himself a premiership coach.

The last 3 premiership coaches played for their club, counting Port as Williams family is so entrenched with the Port Adelaide tradition.

Its pretty well known that Ratten left Melbourne to get some experience coaching his own team.

So Worsfold, Roos and Mark Williams have crap records do they? And Adelaide's favourite son, Malcolm Blight, he didn't do much as well I suppose except for back to back flags.
Ratts left Melbourne to coach his own team, they were scratching their heads because they rated him and didn't want him to leave. I hope Ratts can deliver a couple of wins in the next 6 weeks and give himself a real chance to take the reigns full time.

As for Glen Archer, he should mind his own bloody business. Same for Carey. Have a look at the 'team' he built there - kind of ironic Archer and Carey come out in defense of Pagan and they don't like each other. In any event, the business of the Carlton Football Club has nothing to with them so they should butt out. We don't have to parrot Eddie everywhere, best thing we can do as a club is knuckle down and get results - results = respect.

Exactly my point Popeye, our club leaders should come out and tell Archer to get stuffed..........but where are they? We let a club with 22k members walk all over us

from my perspective its not the time/place to get into a slanging match over the merits of pagan. There wouldnt be much gained. Pagan is finally gone and we move forward.

The results will speak for themselves - if, as I suspect a few of our younger players show some development over the next 6 weeks, then get on us for finals in 2008.

After hearing a Michael Voss interview earlier this morning, Im getting the distinct feeling that Voss is back pedalling away from coaching (or at least coaching Carlton).

Perhaps King Richard has signalled the need for an experienced coach rather than apprentice or 1st up coach, aka Voss.

Does King Richard have his eye on a current head coach ??

Here's a smokey for all you to follow as possible CFC coach ---> Mark Williams. No, im not talking about "Choco" from Port Power. Im referring to Mark Williams of Willy (VFL). His CV is quite impressive.

Watch this space friends....

got to admit, im warming to Ratts, been rather impressive in both interviews to date.

whilst a fan of Voss, an untried Coach is too much of a risk, it what is a very very cruicial period for us as a club.

Voss as an assitant Coach - where do i sign, but not as the main coach.

According to one of the Age articles I just read there will be noone from outside the club being involved in the selection process. Just Sticks, Swann and Pratt IIRC. Even if it is just one person, an outside voice could be very beneficial I would have thought.

With Sticks on the selection panel the job will only go to one of his mates.....Ratten it will be I guess.

After reading Greg Baum's article in The Age today, I'm kind've warming to the idea of a young coach matched with an older coach on staff. The older coach can act as a coaching manager - a mentor to the senior coach and the coaching staff.

A combo of say, Ratten and... Daniher?

Or something.

Ratten with Daniher, Parkin or Brittain wouldn't be bad, considering he respects all those guys very highly.

I'm not into the mentor thing....Voss can either do the job or he cant...I dont want all these neanderthal has beens like Parkin putting their 2 cents worth in. Hawthorn tried that when they didnt have faith in Schwab and it got them nowhere.
Parkins last pearls of wisdom to the club were to trade for Nathan Brown at the expense of picking up Andrew Walker or something to that effect...

seems to be in the Roos/ Worsfold mould and a tad higher profile than Clarkson...

Josh, who do you honestly think the club will go for ? Who is leading the race ? Especially with Voss, he has come out and said that Carlton have not spoken to him and that he is not sure whether he wants to coach or not. Seems strange with all the talk going on about him.

When do you reckon they will make a decision also ?

Voss is odds-on ... and shortening (if the market hasn't already closed).

I firmly believe Voss has got the gig.If Ratts was a serious consideration they would not have asked him to coach these remaining sitting duck games where more 100pt humiliations are on the cards.I think it was done more out of loyalty to him.
Voss, quite rightly, is keeping a low profile at the moment and not offending any of the current coaching staff.
Not sure that any of the other likely candidates could attract all of the 35,000 members to renew next year like Voss could.
