Ratts is a regular customer at the store I work at. Hopefully he comes in one day and I can wish him the best.

God Damn................what a shocking day!

This was supposed to be a happy day for me. The new dawn, the new era!

And all i'm hearing is negative comments towards the Carlton footy club and it's players.

Now i'll be the first to admit that some players (namely Ackland) have no heart what-so-ever and do need to cop some of the blame, but jesus, all these attacks on players.

Like Glenn Archer....................
'Don't blame Denis, blame the players' .......................... jesus christ, are you serious?

Listen up people, KEEP THE FAITH. We made the right choice. These players were lacking in confidence! Belief in themselves and, more importantly, their team-mates. The role of the coach is largley responsible for that.

Nobody here, DESPITE WHAT THE MEDIA IS SAYING, is calling Pagan a Bad Coach. He just wasn't right for us, the club or it's players. We had no other option.

Christ, he had 5 years! FIVE BLOODY YEARS! It's not like we sacked him on a whim for god sake! We gave him an opportunity to prove us all wrong at seasons end last year and he couldn't do it.

THIS IS A POSITIVE STEP FELLOW CARLTON SUPPORTERS!!!!!!! KEEP THE FAITH!

Ratten, from what i've seen, is well liked by the boys down there and i was very much impressed with how he coached the 'Intra-Club' match earlier this year against Libba.

We go into this game with no Fev, Walker, Whitnall or Stevens! Easilly 4 of our most important players. We have our work cut out for us but i'll have total faith that we will show immediate improvements even if we get smashed.

The first and most important change i wanna see is the players enjoying themselves again!

IT FINALLY IS "EXCITING TIMES" AT CARLTON!

All the best Ratts.

Hopefully you can do a good job with developing our kids.......however please make sure we don't win any more matches this year.

Well, in 1993 after the Grand Final I was all for trading Brett Ratten. Shows what a good judge I was / am  So good luck to Brett Ratten in the job, it is nice to have a Carlton man back in the top position!

For all those out there interested in the political machinations... does Ratten's appointment mean we have not yet decided on Voss for the top job? I just think it would be unusual to put Ratten as coach if we knew it would only be for six games.

The club is right on the money in the last two days. Pagan had to go. He was the wrong choice in the beginning.

Ratts is the right man for the moment and perhaps the next few years. He is intelligent, level-headed and will have the respect of the players. He has done the hard-yards in his coaching development by being an assistant at a couple of clubs and coaching in his own right. He has Blue blood through his veins and will passionately give his all for the club. All the best Ratts!!

Six more honourable losses and then you can go for as many wins as you like in 2008.

Had to laugh at Carey last night saying that Denis was by far the best Coach he ever had.....In fact he was the ONLY Coach he EVER had ! .....
(apart from home in Wagga as a young teenager; a few Reserves games at North Adelaide under Mick Nunan; and 28 games under Gary Ayres in Adelaide before retiring)

I love Brett Ratten (in a manly way of course).

He is tough, loyal and a very determined individual.
I would be very happy if at the end of this year, he is chosen as the best candidate to coach Carlton.
I think he has clearly been told by Swann that there is no deal done with Voss and if he wants to prove himself as the best candidate, this is as good a chance as any.
Some people say these 6 weeks are a poison chalice and any caretaker will have 6 losseson their resume. I don't think prospective coaches can be so choosy and you have to show some confidence in yourself and your abilities. Not much can change in 6 weeks in fitness and skill level but confidence, teamwork and attitudes can.

Best of luck Brett. Probably the nicest footballer I have ever met (not bignoting, it was a brief chat only)

He'll also need a lot of luck buzz; with no Walks or Fev to call on.

He's already back in the fold. But no guarantees for next year.

They'll be "co-coaching" as from tomorrow at PP.....that's a great positive already as Mitch IS the Players Development Coach......recognised at last......how could've he developed players from the other side of PP?

Thank God for an end to all of this schoolboy stuff !

Good to see Ratts at the helm.

However, Voss will be there in 2008. Its a done deal i reckon.

Not sure who i would like to see at the helm to tell you the truth.

Interesting and exciting times ahead at the CFC and as The U.S.A moves

it third carrier into the Persian Gulf!

I'll settle for a friendly "morning mate" in the car park.
