Either Voss or Mckenna

I honestly do not know enough about coaching to make a decision however most people here I gather would not mind it to much if either one was our coach in 08

And that will do me

I voted Buckley on the poll, but have changed my mind to McKenna.

I'm guessing many others have changed their minds too, since we started this poll.

Might be interesting to start the poll over and see if the results now are any different.

Not a bad idea. Looks like Mckenna has gained some ground over the last week.

Like her love her or loath her its hard to argue with the facts she is the most accurate footy journalist.

I often find caro intensely frustrating however I still listen to her and read her articles because she rarely leads me astray. Caro is a passionate Tigers supporter and it often shows through however she is no as biased as people like Grant Thomas, Patrick Smith, Robbo.

In a male dominated field Caro has achieved amazining results in being the chief football writer for the age. Caro has thick skin and stands up to baffoons like Wayne Carey who is ignorant and whilst the best footballer I have seen is a complete waste of time and space as a journo.

Carro has few friends in the AFL and thus is not scared to put a few noses out of joint. She was spot on about Pagan and I believe her when she says Ratts has been told not too worry about win loss if he takes over as cartaker coach. I look forward to reading her articles in the coming weeks about Carlton and coaches etc..

I agree with you Headcutter. It was interesting to hear her remind the others tonight about the story she wrote when Grant Thomas got the St. Kilda job how he was told he already had the job & was bagged by everyone, including St. Kilda. Grant Thomas confirmed her story on the weekend!

She's not afraid to say things that will put noses out of joint & tells it how it is, something that journalists don't always do.

I noticed that too. Perhaps as we got closer to zero-hour (Pagan's sacking), more people decided they'd prefer someone with
a) Experience/apprenticeship
b) No affiliation to the Pagan regime

Who knows.

Does anyone think it might be worth making a play for Malthouse?

Probably out of the question but of the more established coaches he'd be my pick.

I reckon there are too many question marks over Vossy and I would prefer McKenna. Closest thing we could get to Woosha Worsfold.

When did Wallsy jump off the SOS for coach bandwagon?

SOS the next coach of Carlton:Walls 01/04/06
Quote:
THE next senior coach of Carlton will be Stephen Silvagni. Yes, that's my prediction. It won't happen for a couple of years but I grow more and more confident that it will happen.

Blues need a new broom to sweep clean and an axe for three veterans - Robert Walls.
Quote:
It's also time for the club to trade Brendan Fevola and Lance Whitnall. Anthony Koutoufides, should also be asked to retire gracefully.

Quote:
Bond, currently with the Bulldogs, has been recognised as one of the best assistant coaches for some time. At Carlton, Richmond and Fremantle he made himself into a very good player with sacrifice and hard work. He ended up captaining the Dockers, has coached Werribee and has worked with grand final coaches Rodney Eade, David Parkin and yours truly. He has done a thorough apprenticeship and is ready to go.

But you backed SOS for coach 15 months ago? :P :?

Roos rules out move to Carlton

Thank God!

I'd fall asleep at the games if Roos coached Carlton.

I reckon we'd be stupid to not look at Gary O'Donnell. I reckon he's been most of the reason that Essendon* have squeezed every last drop out of their playing list and done what they have this year.

Sumich is one I wouldnt have considered but is apparently very well regarded and may be a dark horse if Freo dont get him.

The AFL feels like most of us that Bradley and Ratts will be co-coaches for the remainder of the year so we dont burn Ratts. After hearing this it suggests that Ratts is definately not the front runner for the job.

Paul Roos is definately one we are chasing but unlikely to get - Sydney will fight tooth n nail for him.

Pagan to Freo - Connolly to Melb - Voss to Carlton.

The above is just a couple of thoughts/comments made publicly last night by AFL staff in Sydney.

I don't like the rumblings that I am hearing about Ratts.

If he wants the job, then he should APPLY for it like everyone else.

His past history as a Carlton Premiership player, means squat.

His current role as an assistant, means squat.

Apply for the job and if you are the best man for the job, then you will be hired.

You past history as Carlton champion will mean nothing in terms of your selection.

I would also question Ratts ability to market the club beyond matchday.

Its a different kettle of fish when the spotlight it on you as head coach rather than as an assistant.

spot on mate.

my opinion on her has improved greatly the last few weeks watching that show.

Not all people associated with AFL make for good commentators.

Thomas, Carey, Brereton, Brownless are prime examples.

flower useless in my opinion, and Thomas/Carey would have to be the worst of the lot.

Carey's defence of Pagan is exactly why he shouldnt be asked to comment. Plus i already cant stand the cauliflower.

But Caro, cops it from every one and im finding more and more that she is spot on more times that not.

fair play to her, she is ugly as sin, but she knows her stuff, and by far the most accurate media commentator out there.

I'll admit Caro's been less intolerable as the weeks have gone on. Maybe it's because she's sitting across the table from Wayne "I love Denis Pagan" Carey, and thus looks like the good guy. Hell, Carey even makes Hutchy look good sometimes.

Everyone is talking up Voss. Why?

Confident? So's this guy. Mature? ditto. Determined? Same. Good player? Yep. Connections? Yes. Footy brain? Yep. Fighter? Absolutely. Command respect? Sure does. Honest? - watch the video.

I am baffled as to why everyoen thinks Voss is a signed man. What is so good about Voss? I look at the up side of Voss and Ratten has exactly the same going for him.

Voss is extremely confident, almost too cocky and the fact that the's bringing his own ticket with him doesn't really do much for me.

Listen to Ratts talk about the emotion, the spirit of the club and wanting to get that back.

Voss - sure he'll be good... So will Ratts.

At least we know that Ratten will not be doing it solely for the money and the job. listen to him speak about how much he loves this club, how much he bleeds for it, listen to the emotion in his voice.

There is a fine line between the difference of these 2 potential coaches. That line is that Ratten bleeds blue. Voss is just another ex-player who wants to coach. Ratten actually wants to coach the Carlton Football Club.

he gets my vote.

We may end up with Ratten, as I feel that here will be contractual issues which prevent the preferred candidate who is Voss - from taking up the role.

At the time, people feel a bit let down, But Ratten excels as Carlton coach, with success coming early in his coaching career..
