Sounds like 'Footy Dad' syndrome. Thinks his kid is the best player going around.

Feel sorry for Jordan.

But he is.
He can play Centre Half Forward.

Bannister > Whitnall.

Devasting loss to the Bullants if Jordan Bannister leaves :(

As if he would be a better player at Collingwood anyway.
Also, it's not like he would be able to play CHF there anyway.
And another thing, why does he think he is a CHF?!?!?!

You know what would be really funny?!?!
If Collingwood didn't want him at all.
He'd be left in limbo as Carlton would most certainly not take him back afte this revelation.

Collingwood won't want him, no one would want him, he is gone already in Pagans mind after dismal performances in the seniors. Didn't really impress the magpies today if that's were he wants to go.

Lets hope it's true and Jordan walks out tomorrow on the club, so Jesse Smith can be promoted.

Not sure if that can happen, Mjonc.

If this is true and Pagan was deciding whether to keep Bannister or not, I think this revelation will make up Pagan's mind.

Bannister played CHF today for the Ants, for parts of it.

Collingwood might want him after his 1 good game against them last year in round 22 when he closed down Buckley.

I'd swap then Bannister AND Scotland (back) for something.

Maybe...

Bannister + Scotland (to Collingwood) ---> Davidson (to Geelong) --> Lonergan (to us) :D

Wouldn't get rid of Scotland.

With him, I reckon it's just a confidence thing at the moment.

The guy's just stopped trying. If Scotland's injured, then don't even play him in the 2s.

If he's completely fit, his last few efforts in the firsts are WATERSHED CRAP and he should never play in Navy Blue again.

If he doesn't give a stuff about the jumper, then we shouldn't give a stuff about him.

Might be so, but I don't think we can chop a truck load of blokes this year. That's what I reckon will be Norman's saving grace.
The fact that we are short on for KP defenders will keep him on our list.

We need midfield power as well.
Apart from Kouta, Lappin (at times), Stevens and probably Walker (at times), Scotland is probably our next best midfielder.

Sad isn't it?

Maybe if we're lucky we can get a Cloke as a trade? :garthp:

Honestly, I don't think we'd get anything for him.
Won't get us a first or second round pick.
At best we could hope for is a third rounder and even then we would be asking too much I reckon.

Are there any players on Collingwood's list that are being given the Heath Scotland treatment? Because, to me, that would be the only way we would be able to offload Bannister if indeed this story is true.

Doubt many clubs would have interest in Scotto and would get no more than a 3rd round pick. plenty of players who should be chopped before Scotto imo.

I don't know Bannister, and he may be pissed off.

Maybe his dad has a chip on each shoulder, as he can't say his son is a REGULAR afl player.

I liked the way in the Bullants game how Bryan kicked out from full back to the centre square, it rolled 15 metres forward, was picked up by Sporn (i think) who hand passed inside 50 to a running Bannister, who with his 184 cm and great leap ran 15 metres, bounced, settled 20 out on his own no pressure and hit the post.

YEP, no worries, Eddie and Mick will need his mobile number - quick.

Thanks for the post - lets not waste too much more server space....

I assume you mean Jason Cloke?

I thought he was worth a shot earlier in the season. He'd been forced to play on Gehrig and Pavlich in his two games and he was never going to beat those two. But watching the Bullants game today I can now safely say that we don't want or need him. When your as big as Jason is and your getting outbodied by Justin Davies you know you suck.

Wow, what an absurd set of circumstances. I've no reason to doubt you John and am a bit pissed off with myself that I didn't put the radio back on when I got inside and put the telly on after about half time.

Weird, truly weird. :|

What's really weird is that I think I'm the only person in Melbourne who listened to the Geelong v Freo aftermatch today on ABC radio!

I listened to the 3LO aftermatch. I switched on after the celebrated call, but I heard them talking about it afterwards. As to the possibility that the calller wasn't actually Jordan's father - possible, but then again Swan McKay and Mark "Sellers" MacLure were on air apparently when the call came through. You'd think one of them would be able to identify one of the players' fathers.

Maybe Jordan's father will take him off to Serbia to play for them.

You'd think that Jordan would want to avoid being seen as a journeyman. 3 clubs in 5 years doesn't look good on the CV

But the chances of him finding another club are slim. This outburst (if it does reflect his attitude) doesn't suggest he is a team player. As a borderline player, you'd think he would be desperate to display some versatility and fill any niche he could find.

Far better players than him have had to play in other than their ideal positions or styles. Lappin must have been a bit disappointed to be moved to half-back when he had been in such stellar form as a small forward. Whitnall is asked to play a style of football that is not his ideal. Mick Martyn became a full-back after playing at full-forward in the U19s.

Parkin recently (amid the celebrations of the 10th anniversary of the 95 premiership) said that both Diesel and Bradley had accepted that their roles had to change in the wake of the diasasterous loss to Geelong in the 94 finals. Despite the Cats missing Hocking, Bairstow and Couch, they flogged us. Diesel accepted that he would have to swap with Fraser Brown up forward (and ended up kicking 5 in the 95 Grand Final). Bradley accepted that he had to be more accountable for a player.

But perhaps the best example is Libba. He won a Brownlow as a rover, but accepted that he had to become a scragging tagger to prolong his career (as shown on "The Year of the Dogs").

If players of the quality of the above players can accept change or a different role, I would have thought a player of Jordan's questionable talents should muster the humility to do so as well. No wonder he didn't thrive under Sheedy - imagine telling Sheedy where he was going to play
