I think he's broken his own world record for the number of "i'm just doing the best I posibly can" lines being trotted out...

Denis, GO. At least have some respect for the club that has paid you a fortune the last five years for absolutely stuff all.

Reading what pagan says he says he can only do the best he can with what he has god even though he has resided over 6 of the Blues 11 over 100 Point thrashings in the history of the Blues

Will be interesting when the new coach manages to get far better results out of the group and shows the list isnt as bad as Pagan makes out.

Perhaps thats why Pagan was holding on so that he could try and change the fortunes of his poor coaching record and not get shown up by the new coach.

IF its past you then you have to know when to give up and move on

Pagan your time is definately up and you should have gone 2 years ago

According to Libba, Pagan's strengths are his ability to motivate the players and be able to sit down with them one-to-one. In fact he's a "really good motivator".

Either Libba's wrong or something's deeply amiss or both. Because if he was such a good motivator our spirits wouldn't have sagged.

The days of the motivational ra ra coach are well and truly gone. Players are motivated by success and pride.
If you give a player every opportunity to succeed by supplying him with knowledge, assisting his skills and surrounding him with good players with a common cause, he will strive for success himself.

Standing there and giving players a big motivational spiel works once or twice a year.
Any more than that and you're talking to yourself.
This is'nt a knock on Pagan but moreso a question on Libbas priorities.
If he thinks a coaches should be judged by their motivation skills, he's kidding himself.

Hmmmmmmmmmmmmm! Never been a fan of Libba's and was surprised to see him survive the cull last season.

I'd like to see the back of him when Pagan goes.

Hey Ryan,

Just after a scoop as to what your signature will have to say at its press conference, following that other press conference. :)

I'll say one thing for Denis though. He at least had the courage to shoo away the PR guy sitting next to him trying to shield him from the questions he was going to be asked. Perhaps there's SOME pride underneath that.

Pagan suggests he's "insignificant"...and he's right about that.

Look, IMO, I reckon he's asking to be sacked so he can put an end to his misery and take the money. If he resigns, we pay him very little, if any of next year's contract, let alone the remainder of this season's pay.

He's given up.

Keep him I say...we need the PP...although I have to say we're putting the kids through a lot of unnecessary torment in the meantime.

I still wish we had Leuenberger...can't get over it.

I don't know what to think anymore...the AFL should have given us the PP last year and in 2003, and they wouldn't have such a predicament before them.

It's all gone pear shaped for all concerned.

Time to play Benjamin, Jacobs, Hampson, Austin, Flint....who else hasn't had a taste...we did it in 2002 (except for Waite)...it's a good opportunity to give the kids a taste...we've got nothing else to lose.

Precisely.

Which is why when I asked the question re Denis' strengths and weaknesses at the members' function up here in Sydney, when I got that answer, I was not very happy.

I expected such answers as tactical nous, intimate knowledge of opposition weaknesses, ability to react quickly in a difficult situation.

And all I got from Libba was motivation blah blah.

I think I asked a fair question and if he gave me that, I wouldn't hire the fellow.

At least after this week it will free him up to train horses and watch his beloved Roos :x I don't think he fully ever embraced Carlton the way he was at the Kangaroos. You can't tell me all the blokes he sent packing or left disillusioned since 2003 all had poor attitudes. His my way or the highway philosophy is no longer the way to manage a group of footballers - half of whom he has hardly seen play.

Still thinking that.

At the moment, the favourite seems to be

'THANK YOU JESUS!'

Or otherwise i'll post a link to me singing 'Glory, glory, Halallujah'
