Been supporting Carlton forever but todays performance and most of the performances lately have been as devastating to our brand as what Elliott did off field in his later years
How many would be /young potential supporters would be put off from supporting a team that consistently looks to give up the moment any pressure is applied - how long does it take for us NOT to become the laughing stock of the AFL after 5 lamentable years -the worse years of our history
How many sponsors /potential sponsors would be turned off by the deplorable efforts of our team
What national sponsor would be interested in a team that not only cant win interstate but loses as a matter of course by 60 points plus everytime it goes interstate and has been doing so for years
Before we get onto the coach how about these highly prized players both young and old taking a BLOODY LONG HARD LOOK AT THEMSELVES AND UNDERSTAND THAT THEY DISGRACED THE JUMPER TODAY and a few other times lately
You dont have to be good to try to contest man up apply physical pressure -tackle chase and run your guts out - today we played a team that beat us by 12 points in the first round - How is it possible that we are 105 points worse off now -how can this happen if you are giving a red hot effort
Put these players on notice that they are letting down the very supporters who have stuck by them through thick and thin the last few years -the very supporters who have taken the barbs for pure ineptitude and dismal showings
As for the board DO SOMETHING -I HAVE NEVER ADVOCATED SACKING A COACH BEFORE but for godsake do it swiftly and cleanly tomorrow instal Ratten and at least give us some hope
Sack Mitchell as well given he and the senior coach both with their petulance has contributed to this mess by not putting petty differences aside and not co-operating but selfishly looking after their own interests
Absolutely ashamed to say and never been in this position before but I DONT WANT TO GO ON SATURDAY against Stkilda -Ive never felt this before but dont want to go if players dont try or dont want to put in a full blooded effort - my love for the jumper is too great to be a party to that arramgement
Im sick of hoping for cricket season in July -having to avoid the bloody papers after about the 2nd round of the season and the only real excitement is draft day with its hopes and expectation
The members of the club /supporters EXPECT and DEMAND much more from our players /coaches and our board -YOU ARE ALL LETTING US DOWN after today unless decisive action is not taken.
Dont disrespect our Jumper /Brand it means much too much to many of us

Great post, Frankie.

We're all in this - mark my words, Swann will be going through every position at the club from the players to the boot studder with a fine tooth comb. One thing he has brought to this club is accountability, and everyone is accountable in some way shape or form.

He's sharpening his axe for some serious culling.

I couldn't agree more. I have never been a suuporter of sacking a coach during a season. BUT ENUFF IS ENUFF. We are going backwards under Pagan and I fear for the future of our young players - Pagan is burning them out. Its time for Dick to get rid of him. I don't care how much it costs to break his contract, HE HAS TO GO :x

Jesus Frank,

things have gotten pretty bad if even you've had enough

I agree with everything you said by the way.

Put Pagan out on his arse Monday morning. Install Ratts. Tell him to play every kid we've got, and give them gametime.

By all means, lose the next 6 games and get Kruezer. But to be losing by 20 goals to a team that (by the very definition of the word) is mediocre... that's just unacceptable.

And as for Pagan... I don't think he's earned the right to a graceful exit.

I had tears in my eyes today in the last quarter. I can handle a ten goal defeat, but 20 goals to a team we should of beat 2 months ago broke my heart. If my heart was broken then we lost a few thousand fairweather supporters today.

Most players should be ashamed of themselves. Not playing for the coach is one thing and can be displayed through other avenues, but not playing for the jumper is an absolute disgrace.

I don't think our brand will be tarnised if the board act quickly and get our on field results back on track. The board are working hard on maximising sponsorships starting in 2008 and I am sure this result will force them to put everyone on notice immediately. The old sticker book with the golden stars should be used to rate team and individual performances.

Lets hope this week will be remembered as the lowest in our history and from tomorrow onward it is upward and beyond. Lets hope anyway.

I'll be listening to SEN from 9am tomorrow morning awaiting the press conference that has to come. I'm like you Frank, I won't be going to the St. Kilda game unless there is a change of coach, I hate being uncompetitive against St. Kilda. Suck it up, it can't get any worse than this.

We have just wasted $3.6 million on the worst performed coach in our proud history. Sure Jack Elliott employed him back in 2002 and he must take some blame but to the goose that gave him a 3 year extension on the back of a meaningless Wizard Cup triumph I say thanks for nothing. You idiot. I just hope that Greg Swann sticks around because at the moment he is the only guy I can trust to make the right decisions for the club.

To those players that have disgraced the jumper over the last 5 weeks, you are all on notice. If you don't want to bleed for the guernsey then piss off.

You can add BeyondBlue to that list as well.

I thought could handle the pain of keeping Pagan until the end of the season so we could get the PP, but I don't think I can stand this stuff anymore either.

I think that is essentially what will cause a move on the next day or two.

Absolutely spot on. I am all for Pagan going, but the players have got to put their hand up for yesterday's performance. They were a disgrace to the jumper, and I hope the club has got the guts to make an example of a few of them. I fear in all the Pagan hoopla the fact that they essentially gave up on the jumper yesterday will be forgotten.

Hit the nail on the head, mjonc. A bad gameplan is one thing, but not to chase, tackle or apply pressure is a basic football standard. these kids need to decide here and now if they want to play footy for 2 hours a week. In that time they bust their arses for the jumper, themselves, their team mates and the supporters and sponsors who pay their @#$%&! wages.

Our club is 120 years old, they dicide to put in one crap effort after another as a protest against a coach they don't like? I say @#$%&! em off! They'll get thier wish, DP will go, but they'll find themselves out on their arses as well.

I have never seen a more pathetic individual effort than yesterday in all my years as a Blues supporter.

Watching the Kangas play last night brought a tear to my eye, they play with passion and guts - something we haven't seen at our club for a long time.

Maybe our old style winning culture is built around having success handed to us by people in higher places providing the players to getr the job doen wjile the Kangas culture is to get the job done yourself because no one is will do it for you. I wish we could have half the Kangas G and D!

:(
