Chyna,

Buzz went home and asked for more money at the end of each year. It seemed to be a negotiation tactic he employed. Then the last time he went home he put his fist through a plate glass window and severed the nerves in his hand and they thought he would never be able to play again which was a very bad loss for us. Maybe Parko got too close to the players towards the end and thought they would lift for him again. Maybe Jack said don't worry about the draft we'll buy whoever you want. Who knows? However history does show that we didn't use the draft properly and gave away early picks rather than develop our own and Parko has to accept some of the blame.

parkin has confessed exactly that - when discussing the kangaroos last year saying that then they were doing what parkin tried to do. ie top-up. took him a while, but its on the public record.

Jack Hale was a great Carlton player way back in the 30's and 40's.
He later went on to coach Hawthorn, and was a mentor to a bloke named John Kennedy. He was asked in later years whether he considered himself a Carlton man or a Hawthorn man.
He said he saw Carlton as his parents, and Hawthorn as his kids. In other words they were both his family.
I believe David Parkin would have similar feelings.

Interesting way of looking at it.

I tend to agree, I think you can tell Parkin still has a very large soft spot for the Blues.

I am longing for the day that a credited journo fully exposes the brains behind our draft selections from 1996 - 2004.

These people should be exposed.

The brains behind Michael Mansfield, Stephen O'Riely, Murray Vance, Kris Massie, Trent Sporn, Luke Livingstone,.. etc is the nucleus of our demise.

The David Parkin - Wayne Brittin era was the beginning of the end my friends.

Bring in Guy Mckenna ----> I can see the headlines now "Bluey a Blue".

Message to David Parkin ---> The way you have sprinted back to Hawthorn to hide from your mistakes is laughable old fella. WE KNOW THE TRUTH !!!!!
What an ridiculously poor post. You're the one that's laughable. We ran aground with recruiting, that's true, and Parko does take responsibility. What people like you forget too that this also the same man, who is one of the great coaches of this club, that has taken us to 3 flags and is a very big reason why we have 16 premierships. I'm sure you got a ton of joy from that. Some people forget very easily don't they. Go away and get some respect.

First it was the discussion on AW between Walls and Pagan's Love child Wayne.

The on Foxtel Parko was asked and listed who he would cull if he walked in as coach in '08.
No real shocks in it

Ackland Saddo Teague Laaaaance Mclaren, Skinny FEV Kouta and the others that you'd expect Wiggo Bannister ( anyone who might have palyed but isn't up to it)

The discussion then took place about what other coaches have done! Parko told my favourite story after Shaw spoke of Blight sacking all of Adelaides favourite sons

The story is about a BBQ held at Sellers place. Sellers asked Parko to look around and say something about everybody there.

Parkins answer " I sacked the lot of you".

And the great from this club were there.
Sellers
JB
Ashy
Buzz
Jonno
You name it they were there!!

And he did too!

Didn't sack Bosustow.
Buzz went home at the end of '83 during Parkin's reign to be close to his sick and dying father - according to all medja reports. Wonder who would have taken the number 4 if he had stayed after doing much of the pre-season in '85-'86? An interesting condundrum. Maybe that's the reason why he pissed off again. Wasn't gonna get the coveted number 4 again.

I used to play at the same cricket club as Buzz in the early 90's and he said that the only reason that he didn't return to Carlton after his father recovered was because of a clearence dispute between Carlton and his WAFL club Perth.
It wasn't until years later that he found out that the sum of money that they were arguing about was either 4 or 5k dollars!
He said that if he had of known that then, he would have paid the money himself and returned.

If I had known it, I would have paid it. Or I would have taken up a collection with Blue Beatle. What a waste.
