the round 22 game could be footy's first nil-all draw

It seriously has the potential to create widespread public uproar which might 'force' the AFL to 'investigate & take action' :?

We're not good enough to tank even if we wanted to, we lose or get thrashed on the merit of our list.

This year shows why the AFL had to get rid of the old PP system, where one bad year gave you a bit fat bonus.

Imagine this scenario: if all of Richmond, Melbourne and Carlton won one more game for rest of the season, here's how the draft picks would pan out:

1 Richmond
2 Melbourne
3 Richmond
4 Melbourne
5 Carlton

 Pretty much the ultimate nightmare scenario. No way should any team be so richly rewarded for one bad year out of the blue, such as Melbourne is having this year.

I didnt mind changing the rule to 2 years for a PP prior to the first round. I do have an issue though with the exclusion of results from the 2005 season. We should have had pick 2 last year - no disrespect to grigg, but he was pick 17, we should have had our pick of hansen, leunbeurger, gumbleton, etc

They did include 2005 but we had 4 wins & 1 draw putting us outside the criteria.

No dramas, we've got much more to tank for than they have. If we win, they get pick 2 instead of pick 4, whereas we go from picks 1 & 3 to 3 only. So I can see a few "season ending" arthroscopes, and some "general soreness" ommissions. We'll also play anyone yet to pull on the jumper (Raso, Flint, Jamison, Hampson etc), and top it off with our trump card................SUGAR to ruck all day without a break.

Game over. Kreuzing.

One thing I have been thinking about while reading about Port - it is not just which pick you have - it is who you recruit and develop (duuhhh - I know - stating the obvious).
Look at Westhoff and Pierce, maybe we should get Pratt to hire Port's recuiting manager.

SANFL is a nice recruiting area to have as your backyard...Port and the Crows will always have that advantage........and will always be more willing to draft locals......

Maybe we could borrow Brent Bransgrove from the Bullants to play in the ruck

I agree with what 79 Vintage says.

This team is hopeless - next to no proactive footballers - 80% of the time Geelong play on after a mark - ours would be about 20% if we are lucky.

There is no tanking -it is just a shittty team - and more fool for me to keep turning up week after week to watch more of the same.

Last week was the final straw -and this week I refuse to watch Brisbane beat Carlton by 10 goals. You guys are welcome to it.

Just tell the boys to go out do it for Den Den's last game. :-D

Guaranteed loss.

If Fev has a crook knee, now is the time to get it fixed.
If Gibbs has a crook ankle, now is the time to get it rested.
If Walker has a dicky shoulder, now is the time to get it looked at.
Hartlett's hammy, ditto.
Edie's hammy, ditto .
Likewise with any other niggles other players have.
This isn't tanking, it's good team management for 2008.
If it results in losing every game, so be it.
At the same time we will get a chance to look at some players we otherwise wouldn't see.
If we get the PP, it's a bonus.

Which, a sceptic would claim, was the only reason the criteria changed from 5 wins or less to 4 wins or less

Something really worrying tells me we that we will win one of the round 20 (Essendon*) or round 22 games (Melbourne). I pray to God i'm wrong...winning one more game would cap off one of our worst ever seasons.

Surely the club now knows that we cant afford to wn another game.

If the Demons dont win another game they will come out hard to beat us in the last game of the year.. if they do.... boy..... anything is likely to happen...

Personally i think Kreuzer is ours!!

I suppose the worst thing that can happen at this dark time in our history os to perhaps get a shred of winning spirit huh?

I will NEVER subscribe to the belief that tanking is the way to go. We'll get another #1 draft pick, but at the cost of about 20+ shattered spirits. Yeah, good for the club indeed.
