with Essendon* and St.Kilda being our "bitches"

At least Collingwood fans stick with their club no matter how shit they are!

Oh, and sorry...................i din't quite understand what you were saying about Essendon*. Could you repeat it?

I'd have to disagree with you there - St Kilda supporters have had more pain and agony than anyone - I wouldn't wish their misfortune on you or anyone.
The fact that someone would even affiliate themselves with such a sad pathetic mob has always had me stumped. They never really jump off their bandwagon (like richmond supporters) they just put up with mediocrity.

I agree DN, The Saints fans seem to be proud of their loserdom, like an anti-heroic thing.

Like BM's sig says, only losers like losing....

And I heard a rumour that our membership has overtaken Essendon*'s to be the second highest Victorian club.

Is anyone able to confirm this?

Not according to the "official" figures. Where's your info coming from?

I wonder if some of those "memberships" listed on their site are ineligible ones for the sake of official AFL figures. A variance of 3000 or thereabouts is almost 10%.

The AFL only count memberships with 5 games or more, it's possible Essendon* are including some other forms

Does that take us ahead of Essendon* as the second biggest Victorian club?

those figures posted for Essendon* are wrong.

Essendon* have over 35,000 members.
They are above Carlton.
Carlton has never had 35,000 members.
Essendon* has got as high as 37,000.
which is still 4,000 higher than carltons record.

I brought it up before that Essendon* may be counting in their figures posted on their site some memberships which don't officially qualify for AFL figures. The difference between their figures and the published ones are almost 10%. I guess we'll know the truth when the AFL releases the official numbers.

Worth considering also that this is the first year the club's offered a "Blue" membership which aren't counted in the official figures as they don't give entry to the ground. These were no doubt picked up by a number of people who can't make it to games but wanted to be a member and kept in the loop.

Must have cost us a few.

I was a Blue member several years ago. It's not new.

Really?

Did they ditch it for a while?

They advertised it at the start of this year as something new.

Any idea?

I'll bet my balls it will go backwards next year. The Wizzy Cup win would have helped significantly.

Look it may go south if the club looks like its stagnating.
In my opinion if we get a few good kids and a good uncontracted player or two the spin can be spun.

The list needs to be perceived as becoming vibrant.
