He is doing what he is being told to do - just let him finish the year off and watch the kids and don't worry about the result

We have 8 games left

3 are interstate - we have won one of our last 22 on the road
4 are against sides competeing for the last spots in the 8
and 1 is against the team that just beat us with 8 players out

Cant see us winning any regardless of who was coaching us but we dont want to risk a spirited performance under a temporary coach

QFT,

I can't understand why people don't see this.

Maybe its the Generation Y syndrome.... you know.... I want it, and I want it now!

get a grip people, Pago will NOT be coaching next year, now is not the time to sack him... let him see out the season and give us a priority pick.

I think people do see that Chuck, but they also see that 8 more games of proper development in the seniors for blokes like Hartlett, JK, Grigg, Gibbs, Carlos, Joey Anderson etc, under a quality coach might benefit us more than 8 demoralising losses, might make us a more enticing prospect for an out of contract player, and might give us a better 2008 building block than 8 more games of crap.

To be honest I'm not really sure what side of the fence I'm on yet... But there are certainly viable pros and cons for either decision.

I think it was mjonc who mentioned Fev's meeting with DP this morning did not last long - any idea how long it did go for and who is your source please?

My thoughts as well......why sack him and let the new coach win a couple of games during their honeymoon period and stuff up getting Kruezer...
Denis is the man for this job......

Thanks Fevolution - you would think a longer chat would have been the order of the day.

listening to twenty minutes of cliches and being told that it is everybody's fault but Denis' would have been enough for me too ...

Well SEN has the live cross when Fev arrived, then another cross when he left. At most 30mins.

Seconded.

I must say that I'm a little worried about our last match of the year vs Melbourne. They may well be very keen to lose this game as well.

Gee, I'm feeling a bit out of it here.

Its well known that I've been critical of Pagan since day one but I've been really happy with the last week or so.
Plenty of kids came into the side this week, we seemed willing to throw the ball around and be creative and most importantly, we made a stand with a couple of senior players which was well overdue! (Fev, Red and Ackland)

Who gives a rats bum about the result?
I want development. Gametime and exposure for the kids.
Give me a competitive effort with kids every day over close wins with has beens in the side.

I suspect its Icke and Swanns influence but the recent decisions are well made in my opinion.
Denis' days are numbered obviously but at least he's doing the right thing and going out playing kids.
I'm happy for that approach to continue whilst we look for a successor.

Most importantly, be smart in our approach for a replacement.
Forget the "get Voss" crap.
Put a comprehensive and exhaustive process in place and get the best candidate.
If that happens to be Voss, fair enough but lets not be starstruck in our approach.

That is the most sensible post so far, I thought it was great to see the kids play. Do not worry about results for the rest of the year it is time to see what our kids can do, we might be suprised.

As for a coach, the process needs to be handles properly. There are plenty of prospects out there. I do not like the idea of Voss as I personally believe he has to work as an assistant for a while. Why gamblw when there are options such as Longmire, McKenna or Bond?

The move of waite to the backline in the 3rd quarter was the worst tactical move of the year. Please explain our forward line stucture today to me!
and what was with dragging Scottie when you did?

Whats the chance of inviting Denis to come along and having a read of some of the posts here on TC?????.

Maybe then, he might realise what the local supporters think of him and be the push that is needed for him to do a Neale Daniher and leave graciously!!!!!!
and those from interstate (didn't even want to take the time out to meet a supporter when I was down there a few years ago ..)

Setanta then engages in joyful celebrations.

So the critics out there should pull their heads in. Denis does have a game plan, and his name is Setanta :-D

There you go Siegfried, questions answered. I don't know what your dad was on about 8)

I believe Pratt made it clear at the weekend that Dennis was 'gawn' at seasons end. Lets hope it is done with dignity and not the usual decapitation that accompanies coach sackings.

At the President's lunch? Never said anything directly, but he took a sharper tone when talking about respecting the club, and briefly at the end when indicating the need for a win against Melbourne.

The latter was definitely directed at Pagan.

Josh Kaplan gave an update on pg 8.

Seems he was off the mark this once, so its probably not relevant anymore.

Might not be so far off the mark, given that the U18 games have been transferred due to "recent weather conditions, which have adversely impacted the ground."

Meanwhile, we still have training (and a supporter function) at 4 pm on Wednesday.
