even if he was on $50k the guy's overweight and slow and has a crap attitude and would be the first on the chop, even at this level of output

I am amazed at some peoples attitude towards Lance. Lance over the last couple of years has been asked to play back , then move forward, contest the ruck and at times sacrifice his own game for others. Lance at present is 7th on totally disposals and seeing that most of the guys in front of him are the so called down hill skiers I dont think thats a bad effort. We are all pretty quick to jump to the defence of Fevola when he is having off day blaming it on the poor delivery from midfielders. Well bugger me I didn't know we had a different more highly skilled bunch delivering the ball to Lance. You never see Lance up at the tribunal , you never see Lance drop his head and carry on like a big girl , You never see Lance mouth off at his fellow players. All those suggesting it was Eddie who won us those games have who look who set Eddie up for at least 7 of his goals this year.
To use Bomber Thompson words there are a lot worse than Lance at the moment and "you People" "yes You People" all of you" you people should leave him alone

Syndey, please do not let a good objective analysis get in the way of a ripping apart of a player.

The comment that Dennis thinks Lance is shit is well crap. Lance has been filling in holes in the team all year. He has sacrificed his game for the team time and again. Hell he has even being doing a lot of doorstop interveiws at training after we have been belted. If a coach thought Lance was 'shit' he wouldn't be asked to do all of the above, he would be dropped or on the bench. But apparently player worth can only be gauged by how many kicks at goal he has after training, extra sessions during the pre-season do not count.

Fair dinkim some people need to get a grip.

BlueMark, maybe Lance is in the team because, as crap as he can be, we don't have anyone better to replace him.

It's a sad indictment on the club's playing list as a whole.

Perhaps I do Mark?

But then again, I dont judge a players worth by extra sessions etc.
Thats how I judge their commitment and desire to improve.

If Lance was playing good footy, let him go in early.
I'd be as pleased as anyone to see him going well.
But when you're not getting a kick, when you are missing easy goals consistently, do something about it.

Bret Thornton has developed into a top player. How did it happen?
Not sitting on his arse next to Lance.
He does extra weight sessions, extra running after training and extra skills work.

If Lance was doing everything in his power to improve, I'd back him all the way.
But he's not is he?
He's not even making an effort to improve.

We see things differently BM.
In my eyes, Lance is playing down back because he's offering nothing up forward.
He's sacrificing nothing for his teammates.

16 possessions last week in a team that was belted, yep lets drop him.

Hmmmm Campo got 21 effectives and there are calls to drop him to.

How come people want to drop players who are actually getting the ball?

We have a stack of players who are getting less than 10 touches at the moment, think the focus should go on them I think.

Let me indulge you in a different scenario....

It seems clear that we agree Lance is getting way too much $$$.

We know his contract is up at the end of the year.

Lets assume that Lance isn't traded but is offered a new contract which has a base of 100-200K but has INCENTIVES for PERFORMANCE. This could included things such as games played, goals kicked etc. If he doesent achieve those incentives - he just gets the base contract $$ of say around 150K...

Would you guys be happy with that kind of contract for him?

The money he's on now just adds insult to injury, if you like.

I'd rather have him playing to the standard of a $500K player and then be happy to pay him as such.

We don't need more $150,000 level players. We need match winners.

Yes but without decent support players your match winners get swamped

Uh Oh here we go again............

George lets face it - its VERY unlikely Lance will be able to play at the standard required of a player earning 500K. This is why I have suggested a more realistic base price contract for him, but it includes incentives for him to play better. To me it would mean that he would only get extra money if he does perform. It should provide him with enough incentive to play smarter. At the moment the issue is that it does not matter how bleak his performaces are, he can be assured of receiving 500K + because thats what his contract is worth this year....

No we don't go again, because I agree...

But it all has to start from somewhere.

Lance’s output has been reasonable this year – but is it worth $500K – Nope

Keep him onboard though – that’s if he accepts $200K next year.

Same goes for Campo. He can have $200K also, but only if he plays a TEAM game for the rest of the year. His KPI’s should be:

Effective tackles
Smothers
Sheperds

Not screaming for the ball on the wing all ON HIS OWN playing unaccountable football.

Why not just make them learn the ways of the Force to get new contracts
