He can give something back by turning up at the club on Monday repentant.
That's the irony. We all hope he would do that. But then, if he does, what's to say he won't crack it next season? He repented last season and played magnificently. But what if 2007 was his last season of his contract and this issue occurred? He would be pretty disillusioned and every chance of calling it quits with CFC and walking away for nothing. THAT, is what I am afraid will happen next year if he came back on Monday saying he has repented.
We simply don't know what his fickle mentality will be next year...I don't wanna pour cold water on the possibility that he will come back next Monday repentant...but I am very pessimistic about next year. I don't care about how he is in 2007...it's next year that I am worried about.
The only other alternative I can think of, is to (now hear me out), extend his contract for one more year beyond 2008 on a heavily reduced salary (maybe a way to prove that he wants to stay a blue). That way, we can assess him for another year. If he still doesn't perform in 2008, trade him. By that stage though, his trade value will have decreased since it would have been 2 years that he has underperformed and older. But this suggestion is ONLY to appease the Fev fans out there who can't see the TRADE FEV NOW logic. Ball is in his court, if he is fair dinkum about the Blues, then he may accept.
My view is that we should trade Fev now UNLESS we know for ONE HUNDRED PERCENT that he will be a good 5 year player for us (which I don't think anyone can guarantee).
Anyway, I am just saying the same old thing over and over again. Sorry Siegfried...I tried to hold back, but can't seem to.
Well, I will be happy to cop sh*t if I am proven wrong on Fev. It will be a win for me regardless.
