I reckon Simpson deserves his nomination, regardless of who is or isn't injured. A very astute selection for mine.

Can someone please tell me why Walker ISN'T in the leadership group? :?

He shows more guts, mongrel, leadership than anyone else in the team :x

Good call Sean. At 15 you can see things that people much older can't. Fev isnt captain material at the moment.

Wait till he meets Mrs Palmer, then he'll go blind like the rest of us  :-D

Sean or Kade?

Well deserved. On Saturday he was one of few that showed leadership. Murphy and Walker to follow hopefully

Good stuff Simmo.
Along with Gibbs, Murphy and Wiggins they are the only true leaders we have at our club

Top Choice..................Simmo certainly has earnt it.

I'd love to see Walker & Murphy get a shot but it appears as thou Whitnall will be back in a few weeks (as Wangers mentioned in his review of the captains breakfast)

Simpson has snuck under the radar a bit as a bloke who just quietly goes about his business working hard for himself and his teammates. Just what you want from a leader, no fancy rubbish, just a guy willing to get out there and do the bloody job.

I reckon Kade will take another steady step this weekend. One of the shining lights from our horror draft years.

I love ya Simmo, have a great game son.

All the best Simmo. Embrace this opportunity with both hands. I hope that one of the past greats (Sticks, perhaps?) sits down with him before the game and tells him how much of an honour it is to lead the Carlton Football Club on the field. It would make him feel 10ft tall.

Simmo was the one who taught me to never write off a kid in their first 2 or 3 seasons. He's come on wonderfully well.

Very good choice - a player that works hard with or without the ball and isn't afraid to put his body on the line.

When you start handballing the captaincy around like this it basically means you don't have one.

No doubt about that.

I see this system as being one where some players are simply rewarded for reasonably consistent efforts on, and hopefully off the field. Obviously, they are regarded by their teammates as someone with leadership qualities.

As to how much effect these one-week captains actually have on the field (as captains), I suspect is minimal. Exactly how much they are looked up to as captains on their one special day by the other players, well, who knows.

It may have a positive impact on the chosen player for the future though. In fact, the whole exercise has the future in mind.

Good luck Simmo. Keep working hard.

Or he's injuried on the sidelines, and we don't have a viable alternative.

Get well soon Nick

The rotational captaincy thing is an excellent ploy by the club to instill leadership qualities to our young group. This will only benefit these guys in the future. We need leaders and this is a good way to give players responsibility.
Well done Simmo but also hope that Walker gets a run as skipper as well as he plays like a leader. Same as Murph.

I reckon it's a load of shit to be honest. Simpson isn't the captain, neither was Waite last week. It's just a bogus title now.

Great stuff! Good to be able to put another name against the (c) on the list!! Hopefully at the end of the year we will be able to select more successfully that last fime from this new crop of captains!
