Hughesy on Nova this morning said the final straw was when Pagan rang down to the bench with a couple of minutes remaining in Saturday's game and asked for Fev to be put back on the ground. The runner rang back and said he couldn't, Fev had already removed his boots and socks!

.

So slowly, slowly the bits and pieces are coming out. There's this, then there's that, then theres abit more. Fev is not the victim here nomatter how much some people may think he is the messiah.

If the Fev supporters think that Gregg Swann went from 0 to 100 in the blink of an eye then you really are deluded and black will always be white to you.

Regards Cazzesman

Isnt it funny though how Hughesy on Nova and a job that can pump stuff out to mass knows what went on on the bench...in WA???

Yes its all coming out... but its calculated ... which does not go well for moral when players know this is how the club handles things.

Well he was there and there were plenty of other experienced staff standing alongside Fev who aren't blind, deaf and dumb.

I am struggling to see why you are supporting Fev. You have torn Red apart, you have ripped the old board from pillar to post (rightly so) because you claimed they were not up to it and wouldn't bleed blue and now you want to support a bloke who currently thinks he is bigger than the club. One of the greatest teams the Blues ever had was in 1995. Every one of those 22 blokes would be applauding the stance CFC has taken and you know it.

Don't blame Denis, don't blame Greg Swann, just except that Fev has 110% bought this upon himself. He stepped over the line to many times and has been called on his actions and attitude to the club, the coaches and his team-mates.

If the club is not greater than the individual then all really is lost.

And when you reply please don't make this a Denis issue because it isn't no matter how you may like to spin it. It's a Fev head-space issue plain and simple.

Regards Cazzesman

Youre missing the point Cazz... i dont have a problem with Fevola being suspended...
I DO have a problem with why its Hughes telling us from Nova FM... and not the club what he did.
Its not like Hughes was sitting on the bench in WA reporting on what he saw.. unless he is one of those "experience staff members who are not blind deaf or dumb".. as you out it.

Why is it that the CLUB CANNOT come out and say EXACTLY why he is punished and its left to Hughes from Nova and then the guy from SEN???

Can you answer me that???

Why is it Wednesday and people DIDNT KNOW why from the club but allowed rumours about being drunk on match eve and gambling up to all hours???...
Fed by Sheahan Langdon and Co???
That isnt running the club right is it???

I am not saying Fev shouldnt be punished.. im asking about how justice was executed by the club.. do you think it was professionaly handled??

Agree?
Did the club come out in defence of Fev about the Langdon accusations?

Greg Swan did come out and say that what Langdon said was crap.

I don't believe the club needs to give a blow by blow description of what Fev did. 90% was on the field for everyone to see. This isnt a light decision, its not fun. Greg Swann isnt a hack CEO. We need to give him some credit

Well if it was handled with strength its now a couple of days on we wouldnt still be handling this debate!!!.. wed have all moved on ... except Fevolution...

But because were getting a whole heap of things coming in droobs and drabs we dont.!!

Its just a whole heap of things on the drip!!..

its not the way you handle stuff with a personality as big as Fevola!!

Come out and state what he did and why he is being punished!!!

Its MUCH easier...

Thats fair enough but the wider football community has moved on. They applauded the decision and are waiting for Fev's response.

It doesnt look good for Hughesy to be relaying the info but I guess the club feels that the extreme nature of the action shows people something was serious. Whether they listed it or not.

What we are arguing here is outside the big picture. I know youre a big picture guy. 2-3 days of speculation is going to blow over. The real news is how Fev reacts. If he thinks the club embarassed him, then he's gotta go. If he thinks he was a nong and he embarassed the club, we will all win

We're sort of going around in circles here.

What I'm interested in is working out where Fevola and the club goes from here.

Two options:

1) Brendan comes back to the club on Monday and states that he does not want to play at the CFC anymore and wants to seek a trade at the end of the year. Pretty unlikely IMO as this action will damage his reputation pretty severely.

2) Brendan comes back to the club on Monday and acknowledges that there are deficiencies in his attitude and performance and that he'll work hard for the next eight games to win back respect from the playing group and the club. Likely scenario.

Considering that a press conference was called to initiate the suspension then it's appropriate that a press conference is called to resolve the whole issue -- in fact, it needs to happen to appease the supporters and the media in a controlled and transparent manner.

Brendan will need to be there and he will need to speak to the media about his recent poor attitude and performance and he will need to make a public pledge that he will work hard for the rest of the season.

Such a scenario is good for the CFC as Fev will be on record as stating that he will 'turn things around'. If he does not work hard and continues to disappoint the CFC then they are vindicated if they decide to ultimately trade him for early draft picks.

And, as we all expect a new coach to be in place before the 2008 season, he will have a clear indication of whether Fev is capable of working hard to play consistent football with the right attitude . . . or not. So the guessing game that is so often lumped upon the incumbent coach is no longer an issue.

I think that the CFC has handled this pretty well.

Fev is a Carlton man and will be back.. but in my opinion his Carlton days are numbered.

Im not saying thats good or bad. History will judge that.

Kids dont understand whats going on with Fevola and their parents have to justify it with second guesses.
The club was not decisive in how they went about doing it.
Possibly cos they did go from 0-100 in a second and didnt think it through...
Not the punishment but the press conference!!

To me thats disappointing.
They now need to feed Hughesy and others to justify something they shouldnt have had to justufy a couple or so days later.. if thy did it right the first time.
Also there would have been less conjecture on what Fev was supposedly being punished for.

Now Cazz can argue with me as much as he likes about that.. but were only arguing cos it wasnt done properly on Monday.
.. and this is midweek..
so id be right...

Agree with what you write Titimus.

My concern is that Fevola has shown that he can knuckle down for a short period of time. He has done it before, a few months here, a few months there, and last year, nine months that were in the most part pretty spot on.

I'm not disagreeing in any way with what you are saying, but my worry is that one outcome is that Fevola comes back, admits fault, knuckles down and puts in the required effort for the remainder of the season, and the Clib decides to kep him.

Then, next year, when something goes against him, or he's not the main focus up forward with the new coach, or he gets a bad umpiring decision etc, her falls into bad habits and we're back where we are now. That is my major concern.

I disagree Synbad. No matter what was said there was always going to be at least a couple of days of media speculation over this. The club could have put together a video presentation of all the incidents or whatever, there'd still be speculation.

And this issue will continue to burn on here until Monday, again, no matter what was said by the club.

Could the club have given more details, they could have but probably would just have left themselves open to accusations of turning on Fev.

The club did the right thing, did they handle it 100% perfectly? Probably not. How much will that matter at the end of the season? Very little.

Yeah good point Siegfried.

I guess it is something that the club will have to ascertain during the remaining 8 weeks.

I suspect that the decision will ultimately come down to the wishes of the new coach -- whether he thinks that he can mould Fev into becoming a consistent footballer with the proper on-field attitude.

Either way, as most people have mentioned, the club is in a win-win situation as we would obtain some worthwhile remuneration for him in a trade scenario.

He should have been dropped to the Bullants and treated like any other normal player without a press conference to tell the world.

The club have made Fev bigger than the club this time and it was purely to hang a for sale sign around his neck....there was no need for Swann to comment on Fev's availability for trade or has he played his last game for Carlton etc.....

I take it from Cazzes postings that the shoes and sock story is true.

I supported this suspension from the start. I was beginning to wonder whether it was harsh. Not any more. That is a disgrace. He has let his teammates down severely. I think before he is allowed back, he needs to apologise to the whole team.

To think he was upset about not being made captain. He had posters on this website saying he should be captain. He has showed why he isnt captaincy material.

The more people portray him as a victim, the less likely he is to grow up and take responsibility for himself.

I would love to have a fit and firing Fev back at the club, but only if he has taken responsibility for his actions. No wonder he didnt speak at the meeting. What the flower was he supposed to say?

No.. but the club needs to come out and make a statement.. not do it through Hughesy on Nova.. (who is a moron).. or SENs Australian journalists.

To me its weak and spineless!!

And it suggests to me we have a long way to go to be a strong club.. if we have a bunch of jellyfish still running the club!!

Synbad, all the press reports I've read that quote the club have said that the suspension was 100% for on-field reasons, which I take it includes things that happen on the interchange bench and at training. I don't see the value in detailing every single on-field incident that added up to the suspension, to me that would be petty, un-productive and make Fev's position even more untenable.

Because that wouldn't have attracted any attention.

I think you are still missing the point. More than a punishment this is a test for Fev. If he played Bullants and kicked 10, would that mean you reinstate him and he's learned his lesson.

Also why would you risk him getting injured on the cow paddocks of the VFL

if fevola gets sold it will be another 6 years of disspointment, when steven comes back or even IF stevens comes back how well do you think he'll play with his neck injury, lappin, whitnall and kouta dont have long left, if fevola goes i doubt we'll ever make it past 60pts a game and nobody knows if these young kids are going to stay at carlton....my opinion anyway

Why do we need attention?....player is out of form and showing attitude...usual cure for that was getting dropped to the twos like any other
Joe Average. If he kicks 10 and show the right attitude yes I would resinstate him..if he kicks 10 argues with umps, shows his teammates disrespect then he can have another game in the Bullants to aquire the right attitude.
As for injury he runs the same risk as any other player on our list.....he can injure himself at training so I dont see that as an issue.

We dont need a media circus, we dont need Sheahan, Smith, Wilson etc feeding off it.
We have posters telling me that we cant have a player being bigger than the club......well the club have just revealed that he is by giving him a press conference and a week off. We dont treat him like a normal player and thats part of the problem......

Fevola may not last until our next premiership side anyway (because of injury, more brain implosion, loss of form, etc), maybe it's best to trade him now for a high pick who will enhance the core group of players like murphy, gibbs, etc.

You misundersttod me I should have put this after my first line  or this

My point was if Fev was dropped it would have attracted as much attention anyway. Its Wednesday and its already old news. 24 hours of publicity isnt destructive to the team.

As a supporter of Fev previously, I couldn't agree anymore with you here Cazz. Fev must learn that 26 is old enough and if he wants to be a learder of men, now is the time and age to show it.

The problem is who are Fev's confidants. In this situation a player can go to old coaches, teammates that he respects. Who can Fev approach for aadvice? Not Brittain or Parkin. His best friend at the club seems to be Lappin. Outside the club its ?gehrig.

I hope his manager can talk some sense and give him some home truths. I fear that npbody else in his life will except maybe Alex his ex

If we use the "not be a part of the next premiership" line, we might as well trade everyone. Richmond could've sack mulitipe teams at once over the last 25 years!!! Even if he's not a part it's those senior players that get the next stage rolling hat helps bring the next set of players through. It's all a process.

As far as a trade goes this goes beyond picks. I want a "gun for a "gun", in other words champion forward for chamion forward, or at least a champion key defender (ie Fev for either a Reiwoldt/Rutten/Glass type). 80+ goal forwards are unlikely to be replace in the draft and even if you get lucky it'll take 5 years to develop them. Draft picks can be speculative as seen by trading Hamill for pick 4 (and Cranage). What did we get......... Luke Livingston!!! You're just never sure. Hate it for that to happen again. My prefernce is to keep Fev but if we have to trade him I only want a similar trade to the one above otherwise I'm not interested. Midfielders you can pick up in the draft anyway so I want a direct replacement for Fev if we trade him.
