Denis, as far as I'm concerned, you've written your epitaph. A good coach will liase closely with the leadership group at the very least. Pathetic.

I'm not sure why there is any issue with disciplining a player who clearly was contemptous of the club on Saturday in the lead up to and during the game.

It puts all players on notice that the club will not tolerate the BS of previous years.

If we are prepared to trade Fev, then no one is safe if you cross the line.

This whole right example bullshit has been spewed on these forums since pagan jumped on board. All screwing over club champions like Ratten, Allan, Campo and now Fevola has done is turn the club upside down. Time to @#$%&! off the one common denominator in all of this, the joker running the show.

Which is basically the same piece up on the RealFooty site.

This article has been substantially updated now, here's a snippet...

Quote:
Swann agreed there is a possibility Fevola may have played his last game for the Blues, depending on whether the spearhead decides he is committed to the club in the next seven days.

"That's a chance. He's contracted for next season, but the weekend culminated in what we thought was unacceptable situation for the club, so we've made the decision for him to go away and think about it," he said.

"He might come back next week and say, 'I don't want to play here anymore'.

"If he comes back and says he'll play his role in the team, he's welcome to come back."

Memo Greg Swann: All very well and good setting an example, but just don't forget the elephant in the living room.

Carlton will look extremely silly (IMO) if Pagan is still coaching next year and we are less Fevola as a result of a half arsed take no shit policy.

That'd be some seriously crap policy. Setting a performance example by sacking Pagan is the real test of how big Swann's balls are.

Denis is old school and would think that an authority figure has to be emotionally distant from his subordinates. So there would not be a lot of close liaison and inclusiveness with players.

Its a perfectly normal method of operation for that kind of person. Results are obtained by remote control rather than close interpersonal interaction.

However most people, players included arent brought up to understand or respect this these days - so it is considered out of date and old fashioned and therefore doesnt work very well any more. (not that it worked perfectly well in the 1960's either).

Good or bad methods aside, even supporters of other clubs who wouldnt normally make a comment are now openly saying that Denis has has his run and has to go....

You want to @#$%&! off Swann? After all, he is the one who would most likely have said enough is enough. If you believe DP is behind all this then you're kidding yourself. My biggest criticism of Pagan is that he has allowed Fev to get away with far too much for far too long. Who knows what damage it has done to the group in the last 24 months.

Having said that, why don't you get onto sportingbet.com.au who are offering $6 for DP as the next coach sacked. With games against Swans, Lion, Pies, Power, dons, Saints, Kangas - that's pretty much money in the bank.

Hmmm...the team flew out Friday morning, so how could he be in Perth Thursday night?..... :garthp:

hahaha well there you go.

Just heard Langdons comments on 6PR through SEN and he said Friday night only. Said Fev was wearing his white beanie and playing and drinking well past midnight (and loosing).

Not a hope. There is no way a new coach would come in and clear 5 of the top 7 most experienced players on our list.

They would nurse Kouta through another year, get Lance into hospital to clear his knee for a big pre-season, convince Lappin to go another year at least, get 2 top 8 picks or a key player in their prime for Fev.

I agree with sacking Saddo  .

Kouta's finished and has been for 2 years. He should not go around again next year. Whitnall should go too but I doubt it. Lappin is 50-50 as well as Fev. Saddo, will be go depending on his contract.

I reckon Whitnall is gone Chucky.
The club has told him to go away and get his body right (referring not to his knee). They have pretty much done the same thing to him as they have done to Fev. To me it means that Red is pretty much gone!! (Yippe)
What a wonderful example that Lance Whitnall has set as captain. Another great decision by our coach but according to Indie its all part of the master plan.

Kouta does still offer something. More than a replacement at pick 112 anyway. As for Lance, well he will be there unless the Bulldogs offered up a fairly good pick for him.

Lappin will find a new lease in a new regime.

Pre-game antics upset the club, too.

Waite received the greatest support, Fevola the least and the man who late last year made public his desire to win the skipper's title full-time (before he was sent home from an International Rules series in Ireland), made his displeasure at the vote result known.

For me, this part of the article was the most disturbing. Fev cracking the sads at teammates over the captaincy. If he can't support his teammates he is gone. A terrible shame but I think the clubs doing the right thing.[/b]
