The board isn't stupid, if the players are unhappy with Pagan they'll know about it. But what needs to happen is Pratt, Swann or Icke needs to sit down with each Carlton player and talk to them about how they're feeling at the moment about how things are going and what they think can be done to improve them. The answers should be held in strictest confidentiality, so the player(s) feel no need to sugarcoat anything and can be 100% honest. And then if the majority says they would prefer changes to be made, then they should be listened to.

And I may not have much time for Mike Sheehan, but geez he must be freaking psychic

I agree with you and if the players are unhappy then things need to be investigated and addressed

but this argument can be contered by

Pratt, Swann or Icke sitting down with each player and saying you play for Carlton FC, pull your flowering finger out and start playing for the jumper.

your idea will work better as too many afl footballer are pampered and spoilt 'brats', not all of them.

Oh no doubt. In fact, one of the questions I'd ask would be "Are you prepared to bleed for this football club to make these changes happen?", and would make it crystal clear that if they don't, they're out the door.

You can buy all the hotels in the world, we can be the richest club in the world but unless you get rid of the poor excuse of a coach we have at the moment you can forget about everything and stop being a footy club, but only a business entity.

No other club will put up with 5 years of the shit we have copped. He blames everyone but himself and now you are all finding a scape goat in FEV. I am as pissed as everyone about FEV but Pagan keeps on getting away with his shit coaching displays.

I have barracked for Carlton all my life but cannot see the light at the end of the tunnel. Meanwhile Hawthorn, Essendon* and Collingwood are up there. Why not because they have much much better lists than us its becaused they are well coached to their capabilities.

I am losing the faith and I reckon we Carlton members get together and do something about this. I am so sick of Pagans old ideas. If nothing changes before next year, goodness help us.

Mark H, whoever reads this. Listen UP!!!!!!!!!!!!

What he said!

I can see light at the end of the tunnell.. Once we become re-energised.. Pagan's burnt out..

No mention of either word Jars. Swann said that he would not be selected this week, and has been told to go off and have a think.

He is not required back at the Club until next Monday.

Exactly right. Fev is still contracted. If clubs wanna trade for him and we want to trade him, they need to make the right offer. If the offer is not good enough, he stays on the Carlton list for 2008, and we have another 12 months to turn him around.

This is Bullshit...................

When is Pagan gonna be suspended? Why is it constantly the players fault yet this tool excapes criticism week-in, week-out.

Melbourne loose to Richmond by 48 points and ND looses his job.

Carlton get thumped by 10+goals 1 in every 4 matches and he's safe!

WHAT THE @#$%&! IS GOING ON????????????????

That is pretty ambiguous then.

If this is about sending a message you would think they would try to make the message as clear as possible.

To hold a presser you would think it is a suspension rather than just being dropped. If it is a suspension mention it is a suspension and mention exactly what he has been suspended for so that Fevola, the playing group and the supporters know exactly what the club is doing.

What if Fev is injured and can't train this week? The CEO and coach talk to Fev and say we've got an idea to fire up the rest of the team, but we have to use you as a scapegoat. We'll say we're suspending you for a week for discipline reasons, and hopefully that will put a fire-cracker under your team-mates. Keep a low profile. See you next Monday.

Just my 2c.

Sounds like Malthouse ruled the roost at the Pies then because a few filth players got away with a lot more last year.

Its ridiculous!!.. its laughable... and its just an example of handling something wrong.

Spot on - with the talk already started in papers around the performances of the blues/bullants - he knew he had to do something!! He is so obvious!

What a monumental f-up from the club.

I'm all for being very tough on the players in terms of trading, discipline etc. all things that benefit the CLUB must be done no matter what. If however the suspension was for the two 50M penalties (and nothing else) then it just does not make sense, he would have to be suspended every few weeks for the rest of his career if that is the case. Are they going to suspend Thornton for throwing his head back and mouthing off at team-mates when his opponent takes a mark on a lead?

If they want to trade him just make up an injury and get working in the background.

Doing it this way just tells the other clubs we are desperate and turns it into a buyers market, they will all lower their offers.

Can't agree with this Jarusa.

Firstly -- you can't seriously compare Thornton's spats after play when he is beaten by his man to Fevola's disgraceful dummy spits when the ball is still there to be won. That's what we're talking about -- Fevola whinging to the umpire, not chasing, not putting pressure on the opponent etc.

The CFC can't seriously support a player who continues to act like that when you're shaping a team of impressionable young players of the ilk of Murphy, Gibbs, Kennedy, Russell et al -- who are trying their guts out.

The club HAS TO make a stand about this sort of behaviour sooner rather than later. I have a feeling that Swann is the man who is steering this decision and after giving it a bit of thought, I applaud him. Would this sort of behaviour be tolerated at Sydney? They are the benchmark and should be the on-field model that the CFC is aspiring towards, of which this is a pretty important first step.

I don't expect that this will lower what we get if we trade Fev. His antics and pros and cons are there for all to see and are well known in the football world. Any club looking to pick him up will look at tapes of his on-field performance in 2007 and will see the negatives for which he has been suspended -- I don't think that the CFC has suddenly 'lifted the veil' for other clubs on whether he has been performing adequately or not this season.

Geez...you think Fev is embarrassed by something like this? If Fev gets embarrassed this easily, I doubt this whole issue will have existed in the first place as he would have learnt his lesson the first time.

And what would be the best possible return on a trade for Fev be? Disguise him by putting in someone that looks like him and tell that person to act responsibly onfield? Please, everyone knows what Fev is like, you couldn't possibly devalue him any less.

This guy is a goal kicking machine. Any clubs who want to trade for him knows that. That would be the sole reason they are trading for him. The fact that Carlton has dropped him for a week due to disciplinary reason will mean jack.
