Great post Keogh. I agree with you. Time to move Pagan on just in case, and I mean just in case we happen to win a few more games and the board decide to keep him for 2008. That would be a disaster.

Its all good and well to say its time to move Pagan on, but and it has been said i don't know how many times, our list of players at the club are far inferior to those lists at other clubs. I hate to say it we have a very average list of players. I shake my head in disbelief when i compare ours to others. Tell who is the messiah going to be?

The road is a very long one and a quick fix i.e another aspirin i.e like a new coach i don't believe will turn things around that quickly. For too long as a club we have had a quick fix mentality and look it has bitten us in the arse. The CFC has no one else to blame but itself i.e cheating the salary cap, trading away draft picks and poor recruiting.

The winter is going to be a long one. I fear it is going to be very cold and dark for awhile. Rome wasn't built in a day. Without the proper foundation we are screwed. THe CFC was built on Elliot and his henchman coupled with their dishonesty which was building a castle on sand which always doomed to fail.

He should have got a lot more out of the line ups he's had - maybe not in 03 - 04, but definitely since 05 - no way we should have done as badly as we have.

Sure, we were never gonna win premierships or do more than threaten the 8, but we should should be way beyond where we are now - way beyond and a different coach, the right coach can lift the performance of our team exponentially (had to use at one big word today).

Stealth, the list has improved dramatically over the last 3 years. Look at Collingwood's list and tell me player for player they are better . They are simply coached very well. They have belief in what they do. I never hear Malthouse come out and say that these guys are young and that we can expect some beltings. The Collingwood backline last week with the exception of Wakelin who is a dud in my opinion consisted of kids with a total of 10 games between them.
What about Dad's army across town in Essendon*. They would kill to have players like Murphy, Stevens, Gibbs,Walker, Simpson,Scotland and Carrazzo in their midfield.
Then you have a forward set up consisting of Fevola, Waite, Fisher, Whitnall, Lappin and Betts not to mention Josh Kennedy who in my opinion will be a star. Our problem lies in the Ruck and in defence. We desperately need a settled back six as we had earlier this season. Setanta back to FB and either Waite, Kennedy or Hartlett at CHB and leave them there.

Our list is not as bad as you think. Quite simply this list is not being utilised properly, players are not being developed properly. We have 4 wins on the board thus far so there must be 4 lists inferior to ours.
As for the salary cap cheating, if you honestly believe that Carlton is the only club guilty of this crime then you are living in la la land and you must be very naive. The AFL had an agenda to get rid of Elliott and this was the only way to do it. The AFL has no credibility as a sporting body so how can you support them in what they did to us.
If Elliott and his henchmen stuffed up our club then Ian Collins and his chronies surely destroyed it.

It's time to go.....DENIS.
"With no guarantee the master coach will continue with the Blues after this season, it was a worry for Pagan's doubtful future that Carlton chief executive Greg Swann watched yesterday's game from the coaching box. Carlton has lost 20 of 21 interstate games since Pagan joined the club in 2003."

You dont have to worry about Denis coaching us next year.
His papers have been stamped already.

He obviously has no backbone.

How can any man be so unsuccessful and not take any responsibility for it?

It is very damaging.

He should have some courage and resign.

He is starting to do irreparable damage to CFC.

I buy two memberships a year.

The standard Carlton Membership (because i usually just stand when i go to the footy so seating isn't that much of an issue for me, but i also - mainly to support the club financially as has been desperatly needed these past couple of years - buy buying a social club membership.

I didn't often use it. Sometimes i'd go into the Sticks room before the game, but rarely. That's not the point.

The club needed a hand, and this is the best way i can help them out.

I own my own business and it is a struggle................i probably earn just a little over the 'minimum wage' equivilent................but i still scrape enough together to buy that extra membership.

Anyway................i sent it back to the club last year and said that whilst i'll continue to be a standard member i WILL NOT get the extra membership until Pagan has gone.

It's a pitty......................i really wanted to buy it this year..................the cut-off was yesterday.....................pitty!

much as denis pagen has to go but chucking in memberships or not buying them is only going to hurt the club and I believe that every member here doesnt want to hurt CFC

we have had a few bad losses through out the year but does this warrent throughing in the towel and giving ya memberships up or not buying one

for better or for worse and at the moment we are at the worse well guys we have achieved something more positive this year then we have had in the past 2 years

we are not sitting on the bottom we have shifted of that and to me that is an improvement so far and i truely hope when our season comes to end in september the 3rd we will not have the wooden spoon and if we dont get the wooden spoon we must have improved

i see things like this you have to hit rockbottom before things will get better

i think 2006 we hit rock bottom and now we are on the track up the hill it is not going to be an instant improvement its going to take a bit of time to get our side back to it once was

maybe alot of us here were expecting to much from our club this year

I agree with you all it is time for Denis Pagen to move on as the game is changing and maybe time to gain fresh oung blood in as coach

cheers
OZ

Every time I think Pagan has an impossible task with our list, I look at what Malthouse is doing with a pretty ordinary list at Collingwood. This is his 5th season, there is no leadership culture, I don't think any team looks to the umpire more than we do, we don't man up. We are not progressing, there is no plan for us to plug into. No journey, no story, no nothing. Just filling in time before the next caning, only this time we have had two in a row.

I dont buy this whole 'I wont renew my membrship if...' attitude. True supporters dont hold the club to ransom like that. Renew your membership no matter what, and that ll give you a true right to have your say.
