sorry you are not a simplistic dick and I apologise for that

Not, however, for the spray. There have been insinuations in this forum of late that Carlton are only good because they have always cheated and always been able to buy their way. It is such a crappy, cheap, bullshit slap in the face of a lot of the hard work and effort this club has put in over its whole history that it really, really shits me.

You say you meant 'a componet'. But you didn't say it like that did you, you hinted that Carlton won flags because of $ and for no other reason.

The point is that Elliott re-wrote a lot of the ethics of this club into his own stupid, grubby crap and now people are buying it as representative of 'Carlton'. In my mind his reign is the LEAST representative of this club, the sooner that is understood the better.

I will not have the revisionists rewrite this club's history as one of constant cheating and buying and little else, and of no worth.

We can buck heads all we want about playing around with our formidible 'sizes' and say t'anking not tanking' (think 'duck season/rabbit season') till our arses freeze over - I really don't care even if people get bored by those discussions, but Carlton has a proud history, has worked hard and deserves to honour those 16 flags.

Okay ( I'm rambling again) so sorry nightcrawler, should not have got personal.

Danny.

With Danny all the way, except when he tries to make out that he's the most important writer on cfc.com.au.

I would like to apologize to Synbad, BV, Dom7, Elwood and everyone else at TC who thinks I'm a troll, a shit stirrer, a cheap shot taker who has no clue and contributes nothing to the site.

In particular it is about time that appropriate credit and kudos is given to the Carlton Sides of 1979, 1981 and 1982 (3 flags in 4 Years).

In particular the "Mosquito Fleet" that was the engine room of these teams:

"Ashman, Buckley, Sheldon, Marcou, Johnston, Harmes, Glasscott" - all local or country recruits.

Well Danny let me tell you about one of my brothers, currently in remad for Aggravated Assault. We've never got along, but he's very protective of his little brother!

I'd like to meet your brother - lets hope he knows more about footy than you!

Dannyboy you were a little over the top with your go at nightcrawler.............however nightcrawler you still have failed to grasp what l and Dannyboy are on about:

nightcrawler wrote: "My point was that $$ was a component of the system under which we won a cupboard full of silverware. And of course all clubs used it too" - this is not correct. Out of 16 flags the last 2 would have some association to this $$ component of the system - hardly a cupboard full.

It appears you are following the perception that emanates from ignorant opposition supporters.....do not think this way!

ακούστε ακούστε

It is so annoying that such a small part of the culture of our club (our links with Menzies, Fraser, Elliot etc.) has been appropriated to define Carlton as the 'silvertails' and 'buyer of premierships'.

hey I have a cupbaord full of brothers - and 3 very mean witches, I mean sisters!!!! Now careful Mike your taking on a clan here.

As for the last bit spot on again Jarusa (now go away you're giving me anxiety attacks!) - in fact Carlton started as a working man's club to combat the snobs called Melbourne!

as for the silvertails - its why i hate that stupid silver alternative jumper.

I have 3 brothers as well, each with partners... so I'd say that my brothers could beat up your brothers... OK enough of this. Lets ditch it and just agree that the Club doesn't look after us enough!

As for silvertails, it's interesting being brought up in another state, I never quite knew of this concept and was abit surprised when we came over (late 1980's) that this was part of the image. From where I stand the image is dead, surely the Dees and Hawks are seen as the upper class clubs now? As for having $, everyone knows where the Clubs are at and the Pies + interstate clubs surely have this image now.

Amen to that Jarusa.

...and Danny is right the idea that Carlton have always cheated and/or paid for premierships is the kind of crap Patrick Smith indulges in at every opportunity.
