1) Greek from Alexandria, Egypt

2) Once we were booted out of Egypt, many Greeks went to Australia or South Africa, my grandparents moved into the "new-Australian" commission flats in Carlton at the time, and my father became a Carlton fanatic. I was also born in Carlton.

Hence: My Carlton Connection re 8)

Well given the responses so far, you would have to say that the answer to the question is a resounding yes.

"We are the Wog Club."

:P

Here's another one to the collection.

Born in Australia - of Greek Heritage. Parents born in the Kalamata region.....best olives in the world!!!!!!!!

Not sure how I got onto Carlton since both my Dad and older brother are Collingwood supporters (Yes - I am ashamed of them).

I distinctly remember watching the '81 Grand Final on TV and I won a 20 cent bet with my brother.........so I know I was supporting Carlton before that - just not sure what the origins were.

As others have said - AWESOME THREAD.

What I want to know is why the moderators kick up a fuss when someone around here posts something in Greek.

This is definitely a forum where English is the second language. :P

Italian on both sides.

Decided at some stage to go for carlton. Whole family is now Blue Blooded though. Nonna and Nonno included who argue over every single game because my Nonna won't let Nonno watch anything else :) Got a lot of Carlton supporters in teh extended family... also Essendon* and Collingwood. I think the three team are quite wog oriented, because they were successful when all the migrants came perhaps.

GO BLUES!

1. born here but parents are both American - jewish
2.when my grandfather came over here from the US he lived in Carlton where the bulk of the jewish community lived

Most of his grandchildren go for Carlton but the odd one here and there for some CRAZY reason go for the filth , not a CLUE why, but thanks to the wonderful influence of my brother i didn't fall into the black and white abyss.

1. Sixth generation Australian on most of my lines but heritage wise...

31.25% English
18.75% Manx
15.625% Scottish
12.5% Anglo-Jewish
12.5% Polish-Jewish
6.25% German
3.125% Irish

Go back another generation and there's French as well - does that make Carlton the Frog team?

2. The Hookers across the road took me to my first game at Waverley about 1974 - I was 4. They gave me a CFC jumper with 25 on the back. We sat on the wing and Jezza stood on some poor bugger's head. After that there wasn't much choice. Dad was a Dees supporter and had seen most of their flags in the glory days. When my parents split the following year he moved into Carlton... ...so I ended up living here part time and now live in Parkville and work in Carlton.
