Whoever it will be, Carltons next coach, may well be one of our greatest,
because this person will be the one to triumphantly lead us out of the football wilderness.

The level of greatness he will be ultimately remembered by depends on how well he does in his early years as senior coach.

I have been especially attracted to a worldline which holds that this man does extremely well early in his career at Carlton.

The age of football miracles wrought by inspiring leaders that have a special aura about them might seem to be one that belongs to a bygone era - but I happen to think it might only be hibernating, lying dormant, quietly waiting until it is the right time to return.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/World_line

When we move through space and time, we do so on a worldline.

The choices that we make as well as the choices of others around us determine exactly what that worldline will be.

The future is one of many different worldlines, but there is one particular worldline that we will all experience in the reality that we are living right now.

Sometimes people can get a glimpse of a future worldline that is likely to occur.

The one that I see, is a very good one for the Carlton football club.

I've seen SOS with his boys at several home games at the dome this year which was cool. Good to see he has still got his eye on things despite being busy/involved at another club and after all the crap that went on in 2002.

Buckley will turn out to be an outstanding coach. A good communicator and from the evidence I've seen, an astute and passionate thinker on the game. Add this to a extremely professional attitude and a playing record that the players under him will respect, and you have one hell of a package. Having spent a little time with him on occassion, I can also say that he seems to have a genuine empathy for others. I think he'd do really really well mentoring a group of young men.

Trouble is, the timing will be all wrong for Carlton.

Despite Pagan having another year to run, it's patently clear we need our new senior coach for the 2008 season. Buckley won't go straight from playing to senior coaching, so a year or two as an assistant is highly likely. Eddie will also have him lined up as the logical successor to Malthouse.

Voss, in my eyes, suffers a bit when compared with Buckley. But I think he also has the attibutes to do well as a senior coach. As a prospect I see Buckley as an A+, and Voss as an A.

Either way, I'd be pretty happy.

HAHAHAHAH...........................Funny Stuff!

Quote:
Pagan gives Voss advice
COACHING Two-time premiership coach Denis Pagan has joined the chorus of AFL identities warning Michael Voss to serve an apprenticeship before taking on a senior position. Voss indicated he was set to ignore similar calls from Sydney coach Paul Roos and former Kangaroos champion Wayne Carey by claiming he was ready to fill a top job once it became available. The three-time Lions premiership captain also revealed he already had a team of football staff in mind to assist him if a position became available. But Pagan offered a stern caution. "Michael could well be a great coach — but he'll be an even better coach after he's done it for five years," he said. "It's been the same all the way along and I remember David Parkin saying, 'Your first five years, you're really only practising on the players'. It's an opportunity to establish your values, your philosophy, your game style."

We may have to step up negotiations with prospective coaches now Daniher has officially quit the Demons at the end of the season. The Dees now have a headstart in negotiations for available coaches

I think we re in a better state off field then they are atm.. also our list has a bigger upside in years to come whereas they have a few ageing guns (Yze, Neitz, Robbo) who ll be gone in the next few years and that ll kill them. Remember, now with King Richard around, $$$ isnt a problem.

Great advice coming from a coach who won’t even communicate with his reserve/development coach.

Hmmm ... I wonder if Voss would make sure he has the contractual right to nominate his own assistant coaches and reserves coach?

And if he does, do you think he'd give in and allow the club to impose a reserves coach on him who was the last one he'd choose?

Maybe he's just a little kitten, and Sticks and others will be able to rule the roost while he wears his Senior Coach's cap and plays computer games in his office. Let's hope so. We don't want any hostility after all.

So according to Denis, the two most recent premiership coaches are still 'practicing on their players'.

hmmmm...

Just coz it took Denis 15 years to get a senior coaching gig, doesnt mean thats the right path to go... Get with the times old man

No one cares about Melbourne... not even the majority of their own supporters haha.. Appart from a 15 year period in the 50s and 60s, they havent mattered. Sif Voss would go to a Club on a downward spiral.

The problem with appointing Buckley to the Carlton job, would be the uncertainty associated with that appointment. How long have you got him for? Collingwood at some stage would be after him to return. Why pick a bloke to learn the coaching business at Carlton , probably become very good at the caper, only to see him return from whence he came. While I think James Hird would be an excellent choice, he would be in the same boat. We haven't had a genuine Carlton bloke coach the club since Jezza, 17 years ago. Surely with the club's history of success we can find someone within our own ranks to do the job and do it well. Someone who would command respect from the playing group and everybody else within the club. Someone who genuinely loves the joint. I believe Stephen Silvagni would be a popular and wise choice.

I reckon Denis should apply for the Melbourne job. I'm sure Sir Richard would release him from his contract with Carlton :)

I'm sure that both Woosha and Roosy learned a hell of a lot from Parkin and Eade during their time as assistants.....
