I do feel a little sorry for Brittan...........perhaps we over-reacted a bit after he delivered us to our first ever wooden spoon.

Poor guy...........he's coaches us for two years. One got us into the Finals, the other - after SOS retired, Hamill moved on & Kouta was injured all year, we finished last.
Add that to 2000 where he was supposedly 'match day' coach when we came close to making the Grand Final.

In comes Pagan. 15th, 10th, 16th, 16th...................job is constantly safe.

Kouta has always said that Brittan got the best out of him and i do remember Brittan was the one behind the 'Nastier, tougher, Harder' slogan which we used.

To be honest, i'd accept him as an Assistant coach.

HELL, i'd accept Pagan as an assistant coach. I know i give him a rough time and am constantly bitting my tounge NOT to criticise him but despite the fact that i am positive he is not the right coach for us,................that doesn't mean he doesn't have anything to offer the football world.

He is a 2 x time premiership winning coach and is the coach of the North Melbourne team of the century.

The fact that he is not the right coach for us & our boys doesn't mean he is useless.

So if Voss sees something in Brittan that could be of use to us then i'd be fine with that.

nah i dont want britian back at the club. Never liked him, never should have been coach. But i like the idea of voss as coach but i still want pagan to stay, BUT if he left i want vossy.

if voss (or any coach) was to coach carlton next year or the following year, i would expect that the club allow him to bring in the assistants he wants.

we have seen what happens when poor working relationships are in place and what happens when a board dictate footy dept matters.

if voss is appointed senior coach and he wants brittan as his assistant then the club need to back voss and his decisions.

OK I hav'nt read all 37 pages of this thread so my apologies if this has been covered, but I was wondering why SOS has not been mentioned as a viable option as our next coach? I think he could do alright, is there something I don't know or have missed?

Interesting to see he didn't even have SOS in his top 5 'coaches in waiting' last night on, 'On the Couch'. He had Dean Bailey (who???) in front of him.

But then again, he does change his mind every ten minutes so I am not all that surprised.

My worry is that there's still a bit of angst with him around the club given his role in the salaty cap fiasco in 2002.

Why?

Massive fan of SOS but can't have him as senior coach. I would much prefer vossy. No one can fault his on field efforts and I reckon off field he has lot's of presence and demands respect! Idially would have vossy as head coach and have SOS and Ratts as assistants.

I watched SOS give the saints a rev up at 3 qtr time through foxtels camera selections.

I was very impressed with the way he spoke to them (body language as i couldn't hear), he was animated and passionate.

It seems they responded.

I'd be happy to have SOS as our next coach. I'd be just as happy to have Voss.....

Cant see Brittain returning - but it is possible.

SOS could be coach as could Ratten or Voss - all 3 qualify for the 'New Young Coach'.

However, I prefer Voss at the moment because of the Football Charisma factor, but the others also have significant levels of Football Charisma as well..

If the worldline that I believe will occur comes to pass, it will do so with a coach who is a particularly Charismatic and Influential person as well as being very intelligent and able to quickly learn on the job.

Voss has all these attributes in greater degree than the others, but being the least experienced is the biggest risk.

However if he can show / explain how he might be able to overcome the hurdles that are in front of him - the Carlton Heirarchy night be tempted to have a bit of a punt...

For Carlton, it would be a bit like the Barassi appointment 40 years on...
