It's a sad indication of todays society BB....I can't get used to seeing it, and it upsets me every time.

I've had a gutfull of the miserable, whining, bitchy comments on this site. Lance Whitnall has been the best player the club has had in its most testing period, playing in positions he wouldn't want to play and has done the job without a complaint, head-drop, dummy spit or tantrum, yet gets treated like he thinks the club owes him something.

He has been the most selfless player on our list and we will be far worse off when he retires.

You're all a bunch of @#$%&! miserable sooks  .

A little support from Carlton supporters for our reigning Best and Fairest winner and captain wouldn't go astray at the minute when he's struggling from injury and yet still pushing through the pain week in and week out so he can be on the field like a good captain should.

I hope you're recovery is quick Lance. Good luck with the treatment.

If he's struggling from injury then he shouldn't be playing.

Posted in the training thread a couple of weeks ago that I thought Lance was carrying an injury. If its the knee then its the same injury he has battled over the last couple of years, not good news if it is degenative. Maybe some will get thier wish and see Lance 'gawn.' Personally I'd like to see Lance get a last crack at finals footy he deserves that much at least.

I would love to see both Lappin and Lance get a chance to see some finals action with the Mighty Blues. It would be nice for Kouta too, but at least he's played in a premiership side. But Matty and Lance have played the bulk of their games in disappointing years, and tried their hearts out for the club. Plus they did, and are doing it while having "supporters" calling for their heads to roll.

They really deserve it more than anyone else in the team. I admire them for it. True champions of the club.

Very harsh Rhys,

To wish someone a career ending injury is pretty bad, I would rather the club recognise that the game has passed him by and either trade him or simply delist.

He should have been 'rested' quite a few weeks back. It was horrible watching him try to play as a loose backman last week, letting his opponent have space to work in.

Not harsh at all.
By playing Whitnall at the moment it compromises the club.
Firstly he is a liability on the field (did you watch the first 15 minutes of the game when he was on Roughhead?? )and secondly it denies a youngster such as Hartlett or Kennedy an opportunity to get a game.
We need to move on, Whitnall cannot produce performances that he did regularly in 2000 and 2001.

proving yourself to be quite an ordinary person today mate.

Anyone who has posted on this topic reckon that if Carlton doesnt renew his contract that he would be snapped up by another club?

It doesn't help Lance to be playing injured and whilst I understand that alot of players, play hurt, for him to play hurt already slows down his game even more and looks like the game has passed him by.

It's not fair to him or the supporters to see, a guy who has performed extremely well for the Blues to be treated in such a way.

Give him some time off or stick him in the square and DON"T MOVE HIM FFS!

Lance is finished!
It wouldnt surprise me if he is not on the list next year.
He should go off in the big wide world and forge out a career for himself away from footy.
This is not a time to be soft.. and im sure come the end of the year.. the new people at the club will make all thew right calls!!!

As for the people they didnt make all the right calls.. i hope they just go away!!!

We have 2 guys who cant play 100 minutes of footy.

Lance and Kouta

We then wonder why we get smashed in last quarters?

A name doesnt guarentee you a game(King Geelong, Grant Bulldogs)

Except at Carlton it seems

I thought it was a team game

The game has changed

You have to have 22 runners no passengers

Some people still live in the past

honestly i think there should be some ramifications on this board for posters who want to come out and say that one of the great players and a great club man should be retired in such a way. its very low, and a sad reflection upon yourselves.

I think he would.......a team like the Bulldogs who lack KPP's especially up forward would gamble with him, in fact I can think of a few teams that would take him on, Richmond, Stkilda, Melbourne, even Sydney...
He needs a team that can carry his inadequacies but use his smarts......

Lances output over 6 years has been pretty poor for his renumeration.
So hes been an ok footballer... but his time is up!

Like i said.. i doubt he will be at the club next year....

After the Rawlings & MacDougall 'gambles' I reckon Rocket would put his money on the even money favourites rather than the 12-1 smokies...

The Bullies are apparently one of the fastest teams in the comp. Can't see them putting Lance into that mix.
Richmond are desperate but have a youth policy.
St Kilda has a plethora of KPP more mobile.
Melbourne are unlikely to put Lance in the same team as Neitz, who will probably retire at the same time as Lance would.
Sydney play mostly on a ground where a CHF is not required because the ground is too small. They do play stop start footy, which may suit Lance's inability to run all day. Just the same, I can't see it.

He might be picked up in the PSD as a speculative pick on minimum salary by a team that is lacking KPP's but I doubt any club would actually trade for him.
