Although CHB is an issue I don't think it's the main problem. We were smashed in the ruck and in the centre clearances and worse still we didn't have the pace to catch them on the breakaway.

I think Austin will come in next season and play a few games at CHB and IMO make the position his own in 2009. He has the height and the skill but is still too young and needs to not only get the pre-seasons under his belt so he can run out a game but also bulk up.

Aisake Hampson Jacobs and even Cloke and Setanta can pinch hit in the ruck and Ackland may improve next year. Not all ready right now but at least there are some options in progress at the club. Jacobs IMO needs to work on his fitness and another pre-season may put the miles into him to last a game. Aisake is still very raw in football experience and although playing in the ruck seems to do his best work as a mobile ruck rover. Hampson is a long term project player. Cloke showed some very good form

I think the main problem is that we need two additional midfielders with breakaway pace who can run forward and kick goals. As good as Carrazzo and Bentick may be at getting the ball they don't have breakaway pace. Both Murphy and Gibbs have shown the ability to get the ball break tackles and kick or use it to advantage but they will need more help. Jackson can come in and play that run with role

those picks should buy us Judd

I'd prefer
1
3
20
38

then trade Fisher, Houlihan and Betts (and Lance they would and it clinches the deal) for pick 2 from Richmond.

then we could trade picks 1 and 3 on Judd, and 2 on Kruezner (or whatever it takes to get Kruezner), leaving us with picks 20 and 38.

We would have the luxury of offering picks 20, 38 and an attractive contract to Hawthorn for one their ready made ruckmen who are out of contract

Lance is un-tradable now that Pagan has revealed his knee is degenerating

We should get Dick to sponsor a stem cell research lab and have Lance grow a new body....

However Lance having a degenerative knee does give him and the club an out at season's end with retirement.

I think anyone who is suggesting JW is a CHB should pull out a tape of the Collingwood game - Travis Cloke TOWELLED him up and whilst he is a promising young player he shouldn't let that happen. He is loose and unaccountable, and looks MUCH better inside F50. Scrap the JW to CHB idea, his ability (or lack therefof) to man up has already killed it (same as Brennan at the lions)

Go and have a look at the game again. Towelled him up. FFS!
Cloke was OK up until 3/4 time but certainly NOT a world beater.
Waite did his job well on Cloke. Lucky Cloke couldn't kick worth sh*t however I would have said that Waite beat Cloke and rendered him pretty well insignificant for 3/4's (due to Clokes poor kicking).
It was only when Waite went forward at 3/4 time where Cloke became dominant.

Waite, in my opinion, doesn't have the thought processes nor the skill to be a permanent CHF. He DOES have the build and the leap we need, as well as some accountability, to be our CHB if he decides to apply himself to EVERY contest. (as per chopping up NUTS Riewoldt).

He is an enigma who needs to be given a job each week instead of relying on the pure freakish inconsistent ability that he does have.

We have to draft a minimum of three players.

Maybe we should use Waite the same way as the Eagles use Hunter. Have him always start as a defender with the option of using him in attack if we are struggling to score. :?

Not a bad thought, 1 of the better ideas ive seen about how to use him.

If kennedy were to come along as planned then this would be ideal.

Reality it is alot harder to play CHF than CHB and if waite can be a genuine CHF then we are better off finding a another CHB. Who= no idea from me.

Notice they are trying to move Hartlett in that direction. What is his pedigree at CHB?

Waite has been a good player down forward apart from some erratic kicking....he is good value down there and has taken some heat off Fev.
Put Santy back to FB where he belongs....

Our problem is a spot has to be left for Lance and he has become a liability...we are top heavy to the point that Hartlett and Kennedy cant get games.....Kouta is another player along with Lappin (who I like a lot..but) who needs to be retired.

Kennedy is better than playing Bullants and Hartlett wont learn anything playing against kids from the burbs either.....he has a couple of years of that and its time he got regular seniors time so we can get a handle on if he can play or not.

Its time for the club to bite the bullet and commit to playing youth and not just fiddling at the edges or to save Pagan his job.....
