If we couldn't flog lance last year, how the hell would we do it this year????

As much as he frustrates me, I'd keep Fev.

So we trade Fev for 2 high draft picks. Then what? Draft 2 gun midfielders (young & as yet untried). All going well, we now have a gun midfield that don't have a target to kick too. Or we trade Fev for a midfielder & a forward (still probably young & untried). I don't see the point of this. Fev is one of the only potential superstars that we currently have & IMO stands head & shoulders above any others in the same age bracket at the club.

There is an art to playing full forward, you just can't pluck Waite, Setanta, Fisher & say kicks us 70-80 goals a year. We know Fev can play, & I'm sure no one disputes this. So why trade away an obvious key peice of the puzzle for more uncertainty?

Price being right he should be retained. We have enough holes to fill without creating more.

definately keep him.

Look at it this way.

Bring in

Livingston, Chambers, Fisher.

Hopefully

Hartlett, Russell, (blackwell)

A first round pick and 2nd round too club

Now that Big Contracts off Camporele, Whitnall, and I belive finally Beaumont and McKernan, we can go hard at PSD for quality mid fielder.

Our 22 changes remarkebly, and we have an awesome forward line with Fevola, Waite, Betts, Fisher, (Whitnall, Morell, Lappin) whoever we choose.

B Teague Livingston Carazzo

HB Hartlett Thornton Russell

Its been a while since TradeFevola posted.

While it obviously depends on what is on offer Synbad is right about Fev being worth more to the club than just what he does on the field.

Keep Fevola unless his asking price gets pushed up to ridiculous levels.
Don't trade him simply because he has the greatest trade value at the club, that's counter-intuitive.

Yep.

Fev would have trade currency, and if his financial demands are too high then I'd say trade him. We're trying to rid the club of the mega contracts, so if Fev plays hard ball I'd expect the club to hold firm. That said, plan A should be to keep him and I hope we do. But I don't want to see the club held to ransom again as it has in the past.

I'm all for trading/axing players but it would want to be a real super deal for me to get rid of Fev...our only real matchwinner and providing he doesnt want 500K+ to stay I would be keeping him...2 year contract only though perfomance based..

Its tempting but I wouldnt do it...yet.

Fevola is on the cusp of stardom. As CarltonClem said, players with his kicking ability and sure hands don't come along very often.

So if The Blues were to trade him (and lets face it, it will certainly be spoken about by the Carlton heirarchy) we would have to get a princely sum for him.

i.e. Fevola --> Judd.

or

Fevola --> two early picks.

Anything other than that will be laughed at.

Should we do it?

It would fast-track us on the road to recovery, wouldn't it? It would inject the list with 'raw talent' - and by the way, isn't it interesting how Pagan has been recently lamenting our loss of picks, and also our lack of draft 'talent'?

Trading big players would help to solve that problem. On our list, their is none more attractive than Fevola.

BW, but he wouldn't play HBF at other teams, he'd play as a receiver and do floopin' well. Imagine him at Geelong being supported by Corey, Bartel, Enright, Ablett etc.

Like Camporeale, Houlihan would be good in a good team with tough bodies around him but not much good in a team that requires accountability. We need a tough midfielder and pretty much the only way to get one is to trade an asset we have too many of, HBF receivers.

Thank you Mr Malthouse. :P

Agree with what Sumo said. We have enough holes in our side as it is... and now we want to add another one to the list at Full Forward as well?!? No thanks. Unless Fev gets greedy, we need to keep him!

St Kilda improved after they traded Lockett and Hall. Of course, we would need 2 1st rounders for Fev, one in the top 6.

Sydney paid over market price for Lockett - it was about marketing more than anything.

Hall was playing FB at times at the Saints.

Brendan played full back last year.
I think it's a pretty apt analogy actually. Sure it gave the saints pain to see Everitt and Hall running around carving up at other clubs but it gave them some bloody tidy picks which will take them a lot further.

Both those players needed to get away from Melbourne.

Haven't heard Brendan suggesting that.

Lance on the other hand...

Barry Hall wanted out of Melbourne, and Peter Everett just wanted out of the Saints, not that they weren't glad to see the back of him.
