I got a call from the club today and the gentlemen on the phone told me that Pratt has instructed the club to call all members and tell them that he will be matching all member donations. Absolutely fantastic.

They asked me to enter a raffle for $300 a ticket. I said yes but I better not mention it to my Essendon* supporting wife.

Well done Blues!!!

When you say matching donations Clayman, is this in relation to raffle tickets or something else?

I believe that with the raffle tickets sold at home games, the club gets a small percentage of what is raised.

I got this call a few months ago Clayman and had a slightly different interpretation (not saying you're wrong and I'm right, just saying that the guy I talked to had a different take on things).

That is, the guy who talked to me said that Richard Pratt had come on board and chipped in money for the club, but that he'd said he couldn't do it all himself and that he wanted the supporters to chip in as well. There was no mention of matching funds from Richard Pratt.

As I say... don't take offence, just a different interpretation.

By the way... I couldn't afford the $300 ticket, but bought 2 x $50 tickets to try and make up for it.

I would concur with that Molly. Bought the ticket and got the same story. Thought about it the other day, i am sure it was the car raffle but never received a ticket!

Where do I sign to get my name removed from this call list?

It's bad enough that we have all sorts of telemarketing ploys coming throuth our phones. I love this club and support it as much as I can but I hate saying no. Isn't footy supposed to be a working class game? How many working class people can afford a $300 flower raffle ticket?

I know, when I signed up, I gave my telephone number as a point of contact, but I don't like cold canvassing. Isn't there another way to raise funds?

I think it's a great active move. Motionless is moneyless...

$300 is alot for the working class, but you don't have to fork out that much, as others have shown $50 will do the trick....
