Was listening to sen this morning for a bit and they were running a poll on Walker V Cooney post draft.

The question was who would you take with the number one pick if you could turn the clock back.

I'd take Walks as he has more upside IMO, and is already a very damaging player.

The truth is you would be a winner no matter who you would pick, but it was astounding to hear how the poll was going......

Up until i stopped listening (about 8:30) walks was killing Cooney on about 92% 8)

Anyone hear the end result???

Different styles of player, and have been used differently by their respective coaches.

Both have had significant input and impact over the last 2 seasons. Walker as a bottom age player has certainly caught Cooney, but they are in different teams and roles so not necessarily fair to compare them.

I've been very happy with Walker as our pick.

I'm really suprised it finished 50-50.

I'm pretty sure there were a fair few votes on the board already when Walks had the commanding lead.

Maybe some Carlton people rang up constantly not wanting the pressure to affect Walks... (Not that it would as Walks has a great head on those broad shoulders of his).

Tanking I tell ya!

I wouldn't swap Walks.

As HP said he has caught up with Cooney as a bottom age player, and most importantly looks to be the type of player that will improve more than Adam from this point onwards....

Did i mention he also has the X factor

I love Cooney.................think he's a top player and great leader & if Bryce Gibbs could be as good or better i'd be very happy.

With that said, i wouldn't swap Walker for him in a heartbeat. Walker is the flashy & energetic 'kouta-eque' player we need now, more than ever. He's the one that will excite the crowd and keep em coming through the gates!

I love Walker!

I personally think that Gibbs will be "the" player that everyone will be talking about at CFC in coming years.
As for Walker I can see him turning into an excitement machine. And it is scary to think that he has alot of improvement left in him.
He is starting to find the poise that he needs for AFL football and I admit I thought it would never come. All he needs to do now is kick a couple of goals per game on the run like Judd and we will have a superstar at our club.
It's amazing how his decision making and his target hitting has improved out of sight.
I believe this is the tip of the ice berg for Walks and if he carry's on the way he is currently going then the sky is the limit for him.

Walker,Murphyand Gibbs in centre will be a sight to see and not forgetting player's like Blackwell Bentick, Carrazzo Simpson and Stevens for support.
Just hope Grigg can show something and also our next Top 10 draft pick which is hopefully a Ruckmen or Midfielder! All of a sudden we have depth!

What a bullshit poll.

If my Auntie had balls she would be my Uncle.

(surprised DP hasn't used that one)

About even at this stage for me. Would be happy with either player. That said, Brock McLean is the pick of that draft so far. Great pick by Melbourne as most "experts" didn't have him in their top ten.

Wasn't there word going around at the time that Noel Judkins would have picked up mclean if collingwood had the number 1 pick.

Cooney was always going to go number 1 in that draft...

At that point in time he was so far ahead of everyone else!

If we has pick 1 in that draft we would of chosen Cooney...

its hard to judge....i mean Cooney since day 1 has been running in the midfield with players like West helping him out....Tex was thrown down back and given run with roles and it took him a season or 2 to start putting performances together....but from last year onwards he has improved his kicking and when he gets the ball he puts the foot down and been one of our best...

Well actually, it was quoted at the time, i think by our recruiting manager that if we had the No.1 pick we still would have selected Walker..

So, the club certainly already had big wraps on him and i think Walkers squaring the ledger and may sneak past Cooney, but as is said they are different types of players and young guns in their own right.

Not sure if we'd admit in public that we'd prefer another bloke than the guy we'd just taken @ #2

Sheedy always gets the #1 rated player even at pick 6, 7, 8, 55 etc

I'd still take Dominic Fotia first, Walker second, Cooney third

I haven't been able to see any footage of the game so can anyone please tell me what role Tex had on Saturday night - tagging or roaming free in the midfield?
