Fadeout was a bit ordinary but were we resting people? I noticed that Murphy and Lance spent much of the last quater on the bench. Saving them for next week?

Our workrate and tackling was so strong for 3 qtrs that we simply ran out of legs. Good thing was that we had such a buffer that it did not matter this time...

Many times in the past few years we have been able to "restore some pride" on the scoreboard in the last quarter against teams we had been thumped by but taken the foot off the pedal in the last quarter. It's nice to return the favour I guess.

Also lovely to see Cornes and his mates squealing like stuck pigs every time a decision went against them. Now you know how other teams feel every time they travel to Port and get reamed by the hometown umpires matey. Not that the umpiring was biased at all last night. Port just played dumb.

We have really unearthed some running power and our game doesn't rely solely on contested footy anymore. For the second week in a row we had less contested footy, less clearances but still won.

If Russell can build on that performance, if Walker can join the elite by putting games of brilliance together, if Bannister can continue his great form, if Waite's body can hold up we can go places this year.

Probably the biggest pro over the past few weeks is we are playing the game on our terms. Makes this Friday night a beauty, you can bet the footy purists will be hoping for a Carlton victory.

Maybe Carlton and Geelong are breaking the back of chip/flood/tempo footy.

Con: The teenage chic barracking for Carlton sitting behind me (in the Medallion Club no less) yelling out all night "Kick the flower thing"

my sister and I had a laugh last night over a similar thing back Carlton Richmond round 20 2005. At any time when a tiger had the pill she'd scream , " kick eeeeeeet."

Denis's déjà vu quoted in the Sunday Age:

PROS
- Winning 2 in a row for the firs time in 4 seasons
- Winning by more than a few goals for the first time in 4 seasons
- Bannister (proving a few wrong)
- Wiggins (proving a few wrong)
- Russell (proving a few wrong)

CONS
- Saddington (the weakest link)

Old George i disagree with you that Saddo is our weakest link. Since his first game this year against the pies, he's been as solid down back as Thornton.

Last night he had a few kicked on him but he was playing on an opposition player who was a lot taller and in a Carlton backline that resembled an open paddock.

A few posters are knocking Saddo and Ackland.....I'm the opposite.

I think both of them are fitting in well and contributing to the settled look and form of the team.

Yes, Lance was obviously terrible having 20 touches, 7 marks, 2 goals and some of time on the pine. (from The Age) Shocking player and should be traded post-haste!
Obvious liability to the side in its current form.

I watched the game again this arvo and Lance was a real general in the back line when Port came back at us.....a steadying influence.

And....he kicked two valuable goals.....what more could he do?

I wonder if some posters have seen the game....as distinct from just listening to it......there's a huge difference!

Pros : Just one worthy mention

We are officially the number one Team ( or might be second, just behind Geelong) that attacks through the Corridor or Centre of the Ground....Hence the amazingly high number of goals we kick every game....

Who would have thought such young players without Stevens would be capable of taking such risks almost constantly and non stop, regardless of the score?

Well done Blues... i think the younf kids are slowly adapting and implementing Pagan's true Style of the 90's, attacking through the centre and playing on at all costs :)

Hey Warby it wont matter if they watch the game 10 times, many posters will not accept the fact that Lance Whitnal is a great player and is leading in all ways.

Pros -

-Walkers kicking was phenomenal
-Bannister is becoming very important.Allows us to use naturally attacking players in attacking roles. Walker/Russell/Houlahan are not defensive players.Bannister is.
- Wiggins. I am not a fan of his, but kudos to him. Has been good most of the year.
- Waite. Becoming our "Buddy Franklin"
- Fisher..19 goals for the year
- Ackland..I think he has been good the last few weeks. Was up against an AA in Lade last night and broke even at worst. Is 9th in the league for hit-outs.
- Gibbs. In my mind he is the Rising star winner. He actually gets important jobs every week rather than be allowed to play his own game. Bar for a 10 minute spell on Chris johnson of Brisbane, has not been beaten. Also showed great courage at one stage backing into a pack and fisting the ball away.
- The goals by Fev from 60m + and Waites goal..brilliance
- For the first time this year, we got a decent run from the umps!!

Cons-

Nothing

Pros -

Foxtel iQ is gold for the last two weeks. I've loved rewatching both games :)
No longer do we need the Fevola show to win games. That is simply huge for our club.
I thought Russell played his best game in ages, but like Walker prior to this year, he needs to just steady himself with his delivery options. I've been a fan all of this year for him but glad he had a good 'un.
I thought Bannister was good as gone but gee hasn't he taken his opportunities? I can only admire him for doing the jumper proud two weeks in a row. Should be retained in the 1sts until he drops form.
The other usual suspects.
Our first thumping of another team in god knows how long. It felt good.
My opposition in the SuperCoach this week has Cornes as captain, whilst I have Bartel. 240 points to 120-odd. :) :)
The media's shit spew is finally starting to subside. Are they secretly getting excited about Carlton being a highly rated team in the next few years?

Cons -
Defense is still a bit of a leaky sieve. Better sides will put us away, but better than previous years where EVERY side will put us away.
