The trend so far in 2007:

Rnd 1: 115
Rnd 2: 84
27% drop

Rnd 3: 125
Rnd 4: 39
69% drop

Rnd 5: 124
Rnd 6: 82
34% drop

Rnd 8: 130
Rnd 9: 86
34% drop

Rnd 10: 138
Rnd 11: ???

Every time we have managed over 100 points in a game, the following week has seen a significant drop in scoring of at least 27% and as high as 69% against the Saints.

It will be interesting to see if this trend continues tonight, or if we can buck it and score another impressive total.

We have the second highest score for in the league, and it's time we started to register these big scores week after week instead of every second week.

Good pickup there verbs!

Bit of a rollercoaster season so far, would be nice to break the trend. As a good a chance as any tonight.

Wonder if the rollercoaster is more to do with the team's form or the tactics of the opposition coach who would have seen the high scoring game?

Good observation but just one coorection, the 69% drop off was against the Eagles.

Looks like Williams thinks he has a plan:

Nice try verbs, but I think you're twisting the "trend".
Where's round 7? If you wanted to talk trend over pairs of rounds, wouldn't it be:

Rnd 1: 115
Rnd 2: 84
27% drop

Rnd 3: 125
Rnd 4: 39
69% drop

Rnd 5: 124
Rnd 6: 82
34% drop

Rnd 7: 95
Rnd 8: 130
37% increase

Rnd 9: 86
Rnd 10: 138
60% increase

Rnd 11: ???

Even as a trend, round 6 to round 7 is almost a 20% increase.

The trend is, every time we have scored 100+ points in a game, the very next week we have scored considerably less.

Last week we scored well over 100 points.

If the trend continues, this week we will score well under 100 points.

I think you're looking at scores in a very specific manner, which is not something you can reasonably track as a trend, given we play at different venues, against different teams with different tactics (for and against) each week.

You could just as easily say "each week when we score less than 100 points, the next week we score more than, an increase of...."

You know the saying: Lies, damn lies, and statistics.

Here is a trend:

Going into last week, we hadn't won for 6 games. We won.

Going into tonights game, we haven't beaten Port Adelaide in our last 6 attempts. We win.

Irrefutably, every time we have scored over 100 points the very next week we have scored under 100 points. It is black and white and cannot be contested.

It's a trend if ever there was one.

And this week is a week after we have scored 100+ points.

We haven't scored more than 100 points the week after we scored less than 100 points every week. We have on the other hand, ALWAYS scored less than 100 points the week after we scored more than 100 points.

One thing we have in our favour is we have scored 109 twice against Port in our last three games. However, the last time we played them we managed only 84...a similar score to the post 100's mentioned above.

You gotta love trends . . . theres one out there to suit everyone.

I don't mind scoring under 100pts providing the opposition score less than us. 8)

True, though that hasn't been the trend this year.

I see another trend. Any time someone starts a thread, two people agree and three people disagree. Then they argue some more, get a little personal, receive a warning from the mods, and then see there post deleted, then everyone kisses and makes up - because we all realise that we barrack for the same club... and then I go to sleep.

For the record, I think this thread was super

Whilst we are playing attacking footy, resulting in some big scores, we are yet to be able to back it up the next week. If we can start to do that, and tighten our defence, we'll be as good as Geelong!
