Injuries?

I'd suggest our remarkably lucky run with injury over the past few years has helped Pagan retain his job to date.
How many games do you suggest we'd have won this year or last without Fevola, Mike?
How about none!

Adelaide have been winning without Ricciuto, Reilly, Johncock, Bode, Biglands, Hentschell etc etc etc. All players who would walk in to our side.
All sides have injuries and over the years, we've probably been more fortunate than most.
If our midfield run was a big issue, Luke Blackwell wouldnt have been dropped after being relatively one of our better midfielders.

The seasons not even half over. Lets not go looking for excuses already.

Pagan is so unlucky...

Stevens injury
Cloke injury
All the other injuries that most AFL clubs deal with annually
Players not playing out of their natural positions well
Ex - Kangaroo hacks not being of AFL standard (Teague, Morell, Clarke)
Bad advice from assistant coaches
unstable board, no other coach winges about that!
15 better coached teams
Retirements of carlton greats (SOS, etc)
no defensive pressure, Who is coaching Denis!

I hate excuses!

Not happy Jan

Excuses? You don't seem to be too crazy about reasons either Bluebeard.

You seem to have missed the fact that the articles were written by Sheahan. He's commenting as he's paid to do. Sadly for you, he doesn't realise he needs to fall into line with your thinking.

Who would have thought that a young and developing list coming off a low base would miss one of our 2 best senior players more than a side with greater depth overall and in its elite group

Who would have thought that Stevens' injury would expose Murphy to a hard tag?

It wasn't too long ago that the geniuses on Carlton sites were railing against trying to protect Murph from hard tags by getting him to tag in the West Coast game. He's well capable of taking on hard tags from Stenglien and others, we were told at the time. No doubt the same geniuses are the ones who are now angered by Murph being hung out to dry. Or the ones suggesting that Murph tag McLeod at half-forward.

But of course let's attack Sheahan as if he's the spokesman for Pagan rather than an independent commentator.

Really, why doesn't Pagan just do the right thing and repeatedly say "I'm so sorry for everything" while kneeling abjectly before you. He just doesn't get it, does he?

I'm not in the "let's spare Pagan because of this" boat either, but it is highlighting the fragility of senior core of players.

Won't be an excuse two years from now though, no matter who's the coach, unless he puts a broom through the list too. :|

strictly speaking i guess this is slightly off topic ... but i didn't think it warranted its own thread ...

heard brett montgomery being interviewed on SEN and couldn't help being impressed ...

spoke about his journey as a footballer, dealing with being traded, with his time at port and winning the flag ... was obvious that port's setup and the didactic nature of the coach left a big impression on him ...

and ... he has a degree in sports science which he's very keen to put into practice ... mentioned that eade will discuss some role for his at the kennel but i reckon he's worth a gig as an assistant coach ...

liked the way he went about it as a player and seems worth bringing to the club to develop the young players and help lift the professionalism of the footy dept

Smart footballer who communicates really well in the media.
If you ever get a chance listen to the way Liberatore communicates to our young kids. It’s like a teacher talking to a grade 2 student.

That's garbage  .

When you've got a list that consists of Judd, Cousins, Kerr, Cox etc you can play however you want.

The team's in auto pilot as was Brisbane of a couple of years back.

However they want? Say like they have the past two weeks?! :P

Whoever coaches us.....we're not that far away from being a good side; even with the personnel currently on the list......we just can't put sides away.

I've become a swinging coach voter :?
Firstly i wanted anyone but DP,as indicated elsewhere in this thread.Voss,Lethal,Roos etc all would suffice,BUT while we are playing such attacking footy i'm prepared to go for a ride on the DP bandwagon.
Win, lose or draw ,it's better than the crap the saints are playing.
I'm prepared to give DP the rest of the year-maybe "IT'S BLUE SKIES AHEAD FOR THE CARLTON FOOTBALL CLUB" :-D :-D
