I here that Geelong are looking at hosting Melbourne teams struggling with their "interstate / lowly drawn match receipts" access to Kardinia Park! They say there are good dollars to be made! :P

Hopefully just like his predecesors Pratt won't be putting things to vote either, but maybe this time do what is right for CFC.

Ps. Still waiting for the "free to air" / "additional sponser" that TD was going to bring with our move. But I suppose that is all going to happen when we start winning, silly me.

love your work surrey 8) sounds like this other genious i know that was saying the same thing at the time 8)

There were plenty who never liked the half arsed nature of the split of games when it happened.

Even despite it being half arsed it has still been much better for the club than staying at PP would have been.

funnily enough, i dont recall to many at all, i do however recall alot of people telling me how good the move to TD would be for the club.

the move from PP wasnt an issue, it was the deal. we got [REDACTED], not once but twice.

we got [REDACTED] with the draft penalties, then we got [REDACTED] with the deal that was struck with TD

but as i recall, there wasnt too many that was of the same opinion as

we had, stay at PP and die, got to TD/MCG

where was the 8 MCG/3TD that was offered "but wasnt offered"

funnily enough, a year later collingwood comes in and gets the deal WE SHOULD HAVE HAD and using the prelim as a bargaining tool LIKE WE SHOULD HAVE DONE

The sooner we aren't nomads the better, get a good deal that encourages people to reserve seats and get a decent social club seating area.

The split is a problem because we don't have a real home ground. Playing home games against the Dogs or Saints there is like an away game as they play there more. Same with playing home games against the pies, hawks, dees and tigers at the G. No wonder the interstate sides have started to take over since the dome was introduced.

Conveniently forgotten the polls that were up on TBV at the time asking which was preferred, a split, mainly MCG, mainly Telstra or PP.

There were plenty in support of the MCG.

I personally love the Dome. We lose there because we play all the interstate sides there and they have been the dominate sides during this time. When we get back to being a force in the AFL and can easily get 40,000 people in the dome then it will bring the cash in nicely. Do I think we would have won yesterday at the dome - YES. It doesn't matter where you play it's how you play that matters and yesterday we played like winners. Simple as that.

Another stat is 6 of our 8 wins at the dome since 2002 have been against Melbourne, Hawthorn and Richmond, all MCG tenants.

We have 11 home games to play with so I would suggest we play the Melbourne sides at the MCG to maximise crowds and to not play home games at the Dome against teams like the Saints, Kangaroos and the Bulldogs at what is more their home than ours.

So...

Geelong - MCG
Hawthorn - MCG
Collingwood - MCG
Essendon* - MCG
Kangaroos - MCG
Western Bulldogs - MCG
St Kilda - MCG
Melbourne - MCG
Richmond - MCG

Port Adelaide - TD
Adelaide - TD
West Coast - TD
Brisbane Lions - TD
Fremantle - TD
Sydney - TD

If you take this year's fixture as an example, instead of the 5 x MCG and 6 x TD it would give us 8 x MCG and 3 x TD.

Gotta be happy with that, and I think is what most of us were favouring at the time.

That is ideal GH but it's not the deal we signed with the devil.

Last year I sat on Santa's knee and asked him for all the things I wanted for Christmas. The bastard didn't come through with the goods.

Is there a Santa Claus ombudsman that I can complain to?

its hard to remember jarusa when you are 1 of few people saying that the move was bad.

i recall myself, surrey and a couple more, who opposed the move yet where called all things under the sun at the time.

and all of us, had the opinion, that it wasnt the move that was the problem, but the "deal" we got.

i dont recall to many agreeing with me at all

the deal we got was shithouse. the facilities at both the TD and MCG are shithouse (i would have hoped that moving more games to MCG would have seen us secure better facilities)

the move was not only bad for the club - it killed the social club and any reason to be a SC member

Which in turn kills extra revenue for the club.

Some polls for you Scotty (surprised they are still there!).

There was plenty of support for the MCG being the main ground, but the AFL dudded us when they refused when the MCG allegedly were prepared to offer an 8 game deal and throw in the prelim final.

The social club situation probably would have been pretty similar. Collingwood signed their sweetheart deal with the MCG all the way back in 1999 with a clause in it that required a Collingwood social club if any new stands were built. They had the foresight and we did not.

I dumped my SC membership this year after we got shafted into the cheer squad seats. I pay the same basically for premium gold and I've got level 2 seats at the dome and in the new stand at the G with a bar with the view of the ground behind the glass.

I accepted we had to move from Optus but I thought we rushed it and didn't negotiate with MCG properly because of Collo's conflict of interest.
