PROS.

FEV. Walked over to the Umpires after the game and asked for the ball. Took the ball and gave it to T-Bird. And the Leader of our Club is........

How good was that moment?!

There is a Club unity, for the first time in a few years.

CON: Hadn't seen/heard about Fev doing that until I read this post thanks to Ch 7 cutting straight to the news as the siren sounded. Their "near-live" telecast is pants.

The umpire called play on as it was touched by Wiggins.

For once, Sydney Viewers got a better deal!

I saw it on Ch 7.

Another Pro: We've only played 2 FTA live matches this season so far, and both matches were absolutely ball-tearing beauties! The TV stations would be mad to be looking past us next year in favour of St Kilda or Freo (who seem to get far more than their fair share)

Great game resulting in a win from a great team effort.

PROS: :-D

Blue Somrero is excited...and should be:

CARROTS...every minute of the game
BANNISTER...steady as always but avoided the crazy long runs into space
WIGGINS...BLUE SOMBRERO has stuck by him and it bought a smile to my face...tough at it...shows no fear and hurt a few in the process.
GIBBS & MURPHY...thet're just babies and yet play like men; champions.
WAITE is unbelievably good at this caper; a freak (must improve kicking to become superstar though)
FISHER...what a big heart this kid has got. Week in week out. Kicks goals and runs runs runs...pretty fit kid.
LAPPIN...as a forward always looked dangerous
KOUTA...played off the bench and preserved for half a game was/is a good idea
ANDERSON...is a little beauty...tough as nails
BENTICK ...in the crunches wore their midfielders down
SETANTA...is going to be a star...never says die...can play anywhere..and does.
THORNTON...is the General in the back half...Cool as usual.
FEVOLA...sacrificed his game for the team
LANCE...used his overweight body to good use
WALKER...proved he is a midfielder
SADDO...good defensive game
HOULIHAN...good body work at times
RUSSELL...ready to come back
AISAKE...ready to take Ackland's position
BETTS...didn't miss him

Second highest points scored in the AFL!
Multiuple goal kickers

CONS

ACKLAND is not a ruckman
SIMPSON's kicking was ordinary
SCOTLAND was not switched on
LANCE's pace is an issue
WAITE's kicking is crazy...all over the shop (but I still love him in the team)
FEVOLA should have kicked 5.

Give us a ruckman/ruckmen to start grooming...Aisake...come on down!! Feed the kids!!

Setanta's best position? Everwhere!!

What a great victory to the Blue Boys :-D

Special thanks to Carrots (BOG) Banno and Wiggo (great comeback boys)

A great team effort.

Pro's

Whitnall's game yesterday was fantastic....(commentary team know jacks**t)(the way he sheppered for Lappin's goals in the 3rd..the pass to waite in the 2nd...the pass to fev in the 2nd...just a few examples

Ando...

Bannister and the Wig...these guy's have to play for the rest of the year no matter what....we need to know if they can play consistently like this...

As the problem with Bannister is everytime he make a mistake in the past Pagan drops him...let him believe he can play and there might be a few people including on this site that might be surprised that he can actually play.

Finally the right mix with runners and talls

Gibbs, Murphy,Walker(when he got interested), Carrazzo, Blackwell and

Fisher( he has the same sticky hands like Stewart Leowe)

Kouta and Lappin(they bought back some good memories)

Cons

the match up early in defence ...shocking..

Houla in defence...will DP ever learn?

The umps and FEV

PROS:

the win
the confidence of the players to back themselves in tight positions
the harder running than we have shown in previous weeks
21 goals with fev only kicking 1
a near 4 1/4 effort
kouta running into form
whitnalls off the ball work and footy smarts
ackland finding some form
sadington playing some good footy
wiate's unpredictibility
we had less errors than the opposition
murphy slotting crucialgoal under pressure
standing up when being challenged by the opposition
good rotation and match ups

cons
goal kicking accuracy is still a concern (waite out on the full x2, fisher 35 out didn't make distance, lappin buring 2 teammates)
fevola trying to get cheap goals from hand offs (low % play great if it works but how often does it work)
defensive pressure and accountability is still lacking
wiate's unpredictibility
silly free kicks being given away (scotland in the defensive 50)
anderson injury as he started to look like he belonged

don't want to be too critical of the players as we all know we have a large scope for improvement, if we can get rid of some of the dumb mistakes we make we are going to start winning more games.

THORNTON...is the General in the back half...Cool as usual. Icy cool

SADDO...good defensive game very very good contribution
HOULIHAN...good body work at times
RUSSELL...ready to come back - yes
AISAKE...ready to take Ackland's position - could be ready for a game but is not yet as good a ruckman as Ackland
BETTS...didn't miss him - me neither

Pros

Entertaining game
Kicked a bag without relying on Fevola
Carazzo's best game. Weaves out of trouble in congested situations like a champion. Must concede was one of his knockers
Fisher's form this year and contested marking
Walker improving his game in the middle even though he is a genuine HB
Playing Waite on the Wing
Anderson blanketing Eagleton. Will be a dominant backline player and link man for us
Bannister showing some form and freeing Walker to play in the middle
Lappin still has it just need to give him the ball
Rodney Eade matching Power with Lappin. What was he thinking. Cost them the game.

Cons

One win and all the sudden the supporters believe we have turned the corner with all our players becoming overnight stars. We tend to overrate our players particularly after a win
Wiggins and Saddington retaining their positions. I expect my forwards to kick goals in respect to the former. We will start being competitive when such players don't figure in our top 18.
Bentick's poor game. Does not hurt the opposition as much as I would like to see him.
Pagan continuing to play Houla in defence at times.
Lance struggled with the pace yet again.
Simpson made too many decision making errors for my liking
Out inability to kick goals on the run when the opportunity presents
Starting to become stagnant when moving the ball out of defence. Too many times we wee slow in evaluating our options forcing us to kick to contested situations. We improved this part of our game recently only to fall back again. Also defence concedes too many cheap goals. Whydo our tall defenders all jump up to spoil without having someone stay down waiting to pounce on the crumb
Priority pick is a bigger priority for our road to recovery.
Setanta not being left in defence to consolidate his position in the side asa backman.

It was actually a Bannister goal that he shepardered through - guess you didnt notice carefully enough. I love Fev, don't get me wrong. He just needs to improve on some of those silly things. Like looking back at his team mates if they don't hit him with a pin point pass. And I saw a few Lloydish dives for free kicks in there. He's better than that. Still one of my favourite players though.

"near live" is an interesting concept. I stayed till the Blues walked in to the rooms, walked to my car parked on Victoria Pde, drove home to Strathmore, turned on the TV and they had started the last 1/4.

Obviously seven couldnt skip a station promo or 2 and follow the Blues in to the room. Thats just not on. Sad day forr footy when 7 got the rights

The whole TV deal is flowered. Only Channel 10 has a semblance of showing more than the crap that comes out of 7.

Who the flower gives a shite whether we see those twats Brucie and Timmy sitting behind their heavy metal desk - WTF is that all about?

Fox Sports is just as bad - when they showed the replay on Sunday night, the missed the da, da, da, etc part of the song and snipped off the end a bit.

Bring back Fox Footy - I beg you.

Bring back Channel Eddie - I beg you. Tony Jones on a Sunday afternoon had better coverage than what 7 is dishing out. They have no LIVE games at all in Melbourne.

7's arrogance is extraordinary but the reality is, that we will watch it because our team is playing.

One pro which hasn't been mentioned is Blackwell's performance. I was impressed with his handballing and general decision making. Will be a good player for us.

Showing "The Gods Must Be Crazy" for the 745th time was more important than showing the game truly live as well.
