Bannister has played consistently well for the Bullants. At least he has deserved his promotion.

Well why don't we play Teague as well?

In fact why don't we re-draft Digby Morrell while we at it? or Jason Cloke? He's a superstar of the VFL after all.

I can guarantee you one thing...

Bannister will get run down from behind and get pinged for holding the ball at least once in the game.

That's his trademark move.

Good Post, and sure things can get pretty negative.

Some would say realistic, depends how you view things..

If I am not mistaken it was reported that Pratt let the players know that he felt we could / should win at least 10 games, now I don't know if that was reverse psycology or not but I would be happy with 5 or 6 wins, an ultra competitive performance, another list tidy up and bring on 2008.

I would think we will reluy on guys like Bannister to be delisted comes season end, otherwise how can we promote Aisake and Jackson, and have a go at the National Draft and PSD.

I hope we see a shootout against the doggies.

So, on what basis do you feel the club should promote players to the seniors

(a) merit
(b) mediocrity

Jordan if he has been selected has been chosen for a specific purpose. The Bulldogs don't have a lot of tall players and have more running forwards. Carlos takes Darcy and then we have no real opponent for Hartlett or Kennedy or Lance if they played down back. If Lance plays up forward with Jarrad and Fev to try and stretch the Bulldogs defence our backline needs to be mobile. I can't see Kennedy Hartlett or Lance matching up with Johnson Hahn Higgins Akermanis or Murphy. Thornton Wiggins Anderson Bannister Scotland Walker are all running players

Merit obviously. But do you merit a game of footy if you get sent back to the twos and pick up a bag of possession but clearly make the same mistakes over and over again that got you dumped from the seniors in the first place?

Hardly.

No doubt but I wouldn't be holding my breath. He's already had 7 seperate opporutnities to prove to the club that he's a useless hack and prove it he has. He's the worst player in the AFL.

J, Bannister:
Posessions: 23
Goals: 1
Frees Against: 0
Effective Kicks: 13 (out of 17)

Sometimes it pays to have a little faith...

I'll quote you on that after a couple of more games. I have faith in Bannisters ineptude.

Meh... lets move on. I don't want to be right about Bannister so I'm not going to bother continuing to argue.

He played a ripper,i think he might actually cut it,i know it's one game, but if he plays like that for the rest of the year, how can you cut someone off the list,he isn't 30,he is actually a good age now of showing what he can do.

Yes I can totally understand what your saying and in many ways I agree with you but Bannister getting a game when everybody at the club knows that he's 100% certain to be delisted at the end of the year is a complete disgrace.
100% certain to be delisted not if he is consistantly good,he looks pretty quick and more settle in 1 game so far,but he might love playing on the MCG and struggle on other grounds i don't know.

I don't think that's necessarily true. He was pretty much single handedly responsible for costing us that drawn match with Essendon* on the MCG last year that got us the spoon.

But yes if he plays as well as he did today for the rest of the year I'm sure he'll survive. It'll mean the end of Raso and Hartlett but he'll survive.

well guys like Teaguey, McLaren, Clokey would be on the chopping block...someone like Razz who hasnt gotten his chance would have to be at the crossroads also, we're told he can play but yet we've been waiting 2 or 3 years with no result so his future is up in the air....other spots may open if Kouta decides not to go on next year etc.

so Banny is definately playing for his future, but so are a handful of guys who havent even been given an AFL game yet, because the core group is so solid that there's kids getting lost in the Bullants squad.

bannister and wiggins are the 23-25 yr olds with the hard bodies that we desperately need in out side. how many others do we have in that category? scotland? who else? the rest are either the older group or the underdeveloped kids .
