Just as we thought they were gonna run away, the boys stood up. Good effort

PROS

1. Fisher - It's almost time to confirm he's a player. Contests. Kicking improved out of sight, I don't know how.

2. Carrazzo - Contest between him and Fish for most improved. Kicking also improved out of sight. Got a bit cute in 2nd quarter, runner came out, he corrected it - great.

3. Gibbs - does he f*ck up? Ever? No, really, ever? Also, and I called this after NAB cup game 2 - he is the most technically correct tackle I've ever seen - can;t break it.

4. Midfield engine - between 7, 13 and 44, they have a lot of grunt.

5. Can't believe I'm saying this - Banno. Great effort. Still A LOT more to do if he wants to prove he's genuine.

Special mention - AW, if unleasehed properly by the coach he'd be a star. Murph - love him

CONS

1. Match up of AW on Johnson - Come on Denis, he's a gun midfielder, we can see it. Unleash Andrew Walker. Ridiculous matchup He also shouldn't have to follow Cooney to our back pocket.

2. Long bombs - we still don't lower our eyes entering 50

3. Houla's first half - soft efforts, fumbles. Improved later

4. Waite's football brain - for the son of a VFL champion, he has a shocking sense of where the game's at. Makes too many uncomposed decisions

5. Heath - got beat for the first time this year. Will bounce back

Special mention - WHAT ARE YOU ALLOWED TO DO TO MURPHY!!!!! If Pagan doesn;t complain to Geischen about the treatment murph receives, we have no balls as a club. He was raped. His goal was class

Well done carlton

Yeah ... agree on most of it.

PRO

1. Lappin up forward...WOW wasnt that where he used to play?
obvious forward pocket!

2. Carrots! was just great...his use of the ball has improved out of sight.

3. Waite...brilliant...brain explodes but...he is getting better, have faith.

4. Wiggler & Bannister proved that if you really want it...you get it.

5. Ando was very good until he got injured.

6. Murph and Walks stood up when they were needed.

7. Santa....what a goal...it looked terrible but shit it was good.

8. Kouta...23 possies in the 2nd half...10 contested...WOW

9. Fisher and the hands of steel

10.T -bird backing into that mark...courage...well done T-Bird

CONS

1. Walker put in defence....wake up DP!

2. Ackland...how did we win that game after not winning 25% of the centre breaks?

3. Long bombs...dont work...end of story.

4. Fev and the brain freeze...love him, but shit Fev...it's expensive!

5. Ando injury.

6. Too loose in the middle...doggies broke through the middle all day.

Thought he looked uninterested with the game in the fisrt half.

Once he was moved in to the midfield, he set the game alight.

If this game doesn’t send a message to the match committee/coaching staff, then nothing will.

1AW must be played in the midfield, with a license to win his own ball, and create.

Sure, he can do a job on an opposition small/medium forward, or midfielder.

But he is so much more damaging when he is allowed the freedom to play his own game.

totally agree...Walker was pivotal in the middle throughout the 2nd half.

Gibbs has arrived

Gibbs arrived weeks ago.

Positives:
1. The win- Fantastic effort all round and without a significant contribution from Fev
2. Carrazzo- Wonderful game from a guy who's becoming a super player
3. The new forward line setup- Plenty of options with a couple of bags from Lappin, Fish and Waite. I don't know who made the change but thumbs up from me
4. Bannister- I've been bagging him all week but I'm willing to admit he played a great game, best game for the club. I just hope he can keep it up. As a side point, isn't it interesting that he played the same position in the seniors that he's excelled doing in the VFL and done well while in the past he's usually been forced to play in the midfield.
5. Gibbs, Anderson and O'hAilpin- All three played really good games and are coming along nicely

Negatives
1. Andersons injury- a great shame
2. Not much else.

Great effort guys :-D

Pros
Bannister....great game, beat Johnson and in one defining moment attacked the footy when he needed to go hard and won the ball...well worth his spot in the team.
Wiggins.....nice return from the Wiggler, presented well and as always tried very hard.
Murphy...quality player who rose to the occassion when required.
Gibbs....best game I have seen from him, contested well and was composed.
Fisher....played one of his best games...
Lappin....played in front, marked well and kicked straight..
Carrazzo...probably my BOG....kept on keeping on and didnt stop running..

Cons....not many

at least russel comes straight back in.

bannister BOG for mine.

PRO- the composer late in the game. Holding onto the ball and not giving up possession as we would normally do.

Pros

The brigade that needed to, did- Saddington, Bannister, Wiggins - all great games.

Fev didn't kick all the goals. Also managed to not get reported for retaliation when my fathers' television is lucky to still be intact.

Carrots has found TEMPO. He has always been able to get the ball but either pressure to win or too many mistakes going on around him or he himself trying to put too much pressure on himself evaporated. Fantastic game of leadrship and skill.

Murphy turned a corner in terms of development being the number one 'go to' man for the opposition without Stevens and SHONE, without the umpires.

Anderson is going to be some player. He'll get over that hammy. That's nothing. Joe has it all bar experience so far, and he's gaining that, and learning, quick smart. Natural footballer.

Walker- if only he had a set role, (another topic...) - what a player. What an outstanding Carlton player he is on the road to legend.

Santy. SANTY! Second quarter effort bouncing back and forth, diving in and out of pack, gimme handball, gimme everything- we get a goal. Inspirational. Smashes. Sante smashes.

LAPPIN- A consistent game bursting display from one of our seniors. He'll be there when we are winning every week again.

Thornbird- The main reason I was so happy the Blues won. If anyone deserves it it's Thornton. Didn't just turn up for his hundredth, he turned it on.

We outsmarted quality opposition in the season proper on the field when it mattered.

Fantastic Carlton win.

Sorry, I forgot Kouta. He probably was the difference.

It's not surprising that Kouta and Lappin, our two oldest players, were two of the most influential players winning us the game. Kids still did well though.

PROS:
- Winning
- Winning without Fevola kicking a bag
- Bannister (proved many on here wrong)
- Setanta's goal and fist pumping
- Waite (unbelievably great at times)

CONS:
- Umpiring
- Waite (unbelievably bad at times)

Pros-
-basically what everyone else is saying

-Setanta with that goal in the first after doing a little dance not knowing where to chip the handball he then came up with a great goal... it looked like he was going to split his face in half after 8)

-we can win games and kick high scores even when Fev has an "off" day

Cons-
-Houla gave me the $#!($ a couple of times in the first 1/4 but presented well after

- that attack on Murph in the last quarter... bloody oath it happened right in front of me and i was shocked with how long the ump let it go on for before blowing his whistle. It looked like a childrens game of wheelbarrow gone wrong :?

other then that top notch match, GO BLUES!!

He was excited wasn't he?

And so was I!

Good on him!

He has every right to be pumped!

Pros:

Carrazzo! Anyone know if he's elegible for the NRS?!

80% of our inside 50's didn't go to our usual target of Fev and his three opponents

Lappin and Kouta

Whitnall, making everyone sit back and wonder how the F*%& he did that.

Murphy is just class. Enough said.

Cons:

One step further away from that first round PP 8)

oops forgot Tbird!!
glad our win was this week in his 100th match. He deserved every bit and the way he played today showed why. He was everywhere, made a few cameos in the forward 50 and was crucial in the last five minutes marking on the wing stopping the ball from getting back to the doggies remaining as always cool calm and collected.

AND ando on eagleton before he went off, showed great courage.

Pros :

- Bannister the General. Hope he keeps it up.

- Wig is fine lead up forward. Always presents, strong mark and works hard the other way. We play better when he is on. Not sure what all the negative fuss is about. Perhaps its because of his unfortunate surname.

- Hard to bag the tactic of kicking to the deepest forward when we are kicking 20 goals a week.

- Rotating the deepest forward. Teams have to think twice about crowding around fev now.

- Lappin gliding across the front of a wrestling whitnal a couple of times in the third. Not sure if it was a tactic but if it was the coaches should be aplauded.

- Gibbs

CON :

- the easy goals we gifted them in the first.

- Umpiring in the first ten minutes of the second.

-Bad match up with AW. Hope fully we see AW released.

Overall we are an exciting team. Obviously we score high scores by having players run forward of the ball. The AFL must love what we are doing for the game. Unfortunately this tactic allows the other team easy goals also.

The big challenge is to come up with a way to score the way we do now but still afford a couple of players behind the ball to shut out a few of the oppositions easy goals.

Today we really worked hard, particularly to break hard when we won possession. Our uncontested footy was up, as well as uncontested marks.

Biggest pro is we now have the belief the win. Murph FINALLY got his free kick and converted, geez that was good. Hard to believe he is 19.

And another word on GIBBS, he completely destroyed Akermanis. InN the 3rd quarter he opened space in the half back line which resulted in a goal by positioning his body to keep Aker away from the ball.

Funny, this morning a few of us were talking about the pact the '95 blues had, where when it was there time to go they went and put their body on the line. Bannister did that today, Wiggins did that today.

Cons were we got smashed in the centre clearances. We got away with it today but this needs to be corrected. Kouta kept us in the game in the last quarter.

Our centre breaks are a real issue.

I know that we cant do anything drastic about it in 2007 but maybe it would be wise to trade both Mclaren and Ackland for one reasonable ruckman.

I dunno

Sake, Jacobs and Hampson will be closer next year and Cloke will be back...what we need is a tried true top 10 AFL ruckman.

I cant see how growing another one will help us soon.

Forgot a CON but there was one glaring for me- Kouta's flowering ridiculous decision to handpass to Bentick when he marked in front of goal. : does not come close.
