Manton could have played a few more games but really what difference would it have made. A report from a Kangas fan on Bigfooty

One comment out of context is an irrelevance

A former player told me that Pagan farted once in front of the playing group and didn't say excuse me. I was shocked by this and I have never liked Pagan since. The players lost respect for him too. How can he be coach if he does this sort of stuff? What a farce!!!

The dirt that has been brought up on Pagan recently reminds me of the Liberal party on Rudd. A load of rubbish.

Manton was finished as a footballer and so were all the other players trying to get a pension from the Carlton Football Club while they were in their 30s. Pagan had the balls to tell these players their careers were over. Otherwise we would still have Dad's Army running around claiming their pension.

The Mantons, Hickys, Hulmes etc all thought they still had something to offer but Pagan and 15 other AFL clubs knew they were finished.

manton did the same to sheeds after he got the flick from the scum...did sheeds get the sack? No, he coached another premiership side(unfortunately) in 2000. Not one of the players Pagan got rid of have gone on to have successful careers at other clubs. That's a pity for those blokes, but that was Denis' job when he came to the club - to rebuild the list. Now we can argue all we like about whether he's done a good job or not, but we must surely all agree that he had to move on some players - and he did.

And as for taking threads from BigFooty....shheeeesshh. I am looking forward to the threads breathlessly announcing that Jonathan Brown and Nick Riewoldt are aiming to get to Carlton in 2008, given that both of these have been on Big Footy in recent days

It makes no difference.

He is still an out dated coach who has run out of ideas.

the only player that I miss from that list is Hulme.

He was just a solid contributor. Angry little might too...love a bit of mongel in a footy team...and we got none...except Fev I guess.

While that may be the case, this thread is grabbing at straws to prove the point.

Geez you guys are way off the mark here. You are missing the point entirely.

Yes the majority of those players were finished , apart from Davies , Thornton , Russell , Sporn , Campo and pretty much anyone I left out of that 2004 Nab Cup side. As someone mentioned before , Mick Martyn wasnt only finished , he was hopeless , yet there was still a spot in the side for him , as pathetic as he played.

Point being this is his outdated way of getting the best out of his players. It really is quite laughable , the North side of the 90's must have been a bunch of dumbass buffoons to play for this guy.

Oh and FWIW , 'Spazza' Beaumont , wasnt the only one bagging Pagan that day. Oh how the players responded to him and played for him in that match.

Always rationisation to to deflect from the obvious. Face it, Pagan lost the players. There's been a number of ex-players express their displeasure. Some were even willing to contribute to a payout last year. All have sour grapes? You wouldn't think so. So just don't want to believe. The initial poster of that BF thread was not a Carlton supporter so there was no agenda.

Davies - career ended by injury
Thornton - still here
Russell - still here
Sporn - rubbish, why wasn't he picked up by someone else?
Campo - rubbish, has done less than bugger all at the bombers.

Pagan might be crap, but this thread has done 7/8's of bugger all to prove it.

I don't know about you, GH, but I'd like to think our club has a much greater chance of future success now than we did back in 2003 - a playing list with more potential than in 2003 (IMO) and greater off-field stability

Interesting that this was posted at 4.38 am on CSC:

Interesting thread on Carlton "BigFooty" Board.

So what have we got...
Manton
Hulme
Beaumont

and previously
McGrath
French
Halford
Morrell

We cant forget McKernan either.

Ratten, Bradley, Mckay, Hickmott all got shown the door early too and were not treated with respect at the time.

So is that enough 'evidence' to put forward the "Pagan is hated" argument again? After all it was shouted down initially since no player had spoken out against him in the media.

But i suppose in each and every one of them it was simple a case of sour grapes and NOT an honest account of the true Pagan.

Man why would you even bother , if people cant see that the players have hated Pagan from day one and they never have , nor never will play for him then they are dillusional re:Mav and that tossa Cazzesman from TC , just let them believe what they want to believe.

Lo and behold, at 4:42 am in this thread, a poster named Hellas Blue posts a link to the Big Footy thread. Strangely enough, the PassIt2Carrots fellow happens to be extremely proud of his Greek heritage. Now, I wonder if Hellas Blue and he are one and the same person? It could be an incredible coincidence of course.

But in case they are the same, I just wonder about the motivation for coming here to start this thread was. To take on the infidels who haven't yet been converted? Maybe it's just a bit boring posting on CSC when everyone is expected to be of the same view or else they'll be accused of engaging in deflection and spin? So like 3 Mormons on bikes, Hellas Blue (PassIt2Carrots), Jim (JimtheGreat)and Dominator 7 (Dominator_7) ride in from CSC to teach us the errors of our ways.

Good to see the same old strategies are still in use:

Manton probably needs to get over it, but he was far from finished as a footballer and was the way he was treated in his last season with us was disgraceful.

Whats the point of your post Mav :?

Many posters have different names on different sites. (Including yourself)
It appears your post is purely designed to discredit those with an opposing view to yourself.
