Those foot skills hit Melbourne players on no less than 8 occasions.

I also saw the most Gutless thing that I have seen for years.

He had done all the hard running, made space, called for the ball and then didn't go for it becaus Holland was coming from the other direction. JUST SHIRKED THE ISSUE - stopped going for the footy.

I don't expect him to crash into packs or be in an under - that is not his role and we have others who do that but I do expect him to go for the ball in a 1 on 1 situation - particularly when Holland wasn't even that close.

That is selfish football and he did it in front of the coaches box and was allowed to stay on the ground -

Somebody needs to bash him at training this week. And i don't meen for punishment.

It's as if he is scared shitless of getting hurt. Soft soft soft.

This boy has amazing skills but needs to grow some balls. It's like he's a shy schoolgirl in a room full of horny footy players on an end of season trip!

Sooner or later, he's gotta realise that getting hurt is part of football! It's a contact sport Ryan................not Netball! And when he does realise that, his game will improve dramatically!

There are more intelligent ways of making your point DN. Didn't see him back out of getting crunched late in the game last week as well as Sav Rocca last year. He got hurt then. And he's played plenty of games carrying an injury including the first 2 this year and quite a few last year with painful groins.

Can't see any point in playing him in defence on someone like Davey. Surely we have better defensive options and we need to have him further up the ground hitting our forwards on the chest which he certainly did last week or kicking goals as he did in the last 1/4.

Ken Sheldon spoke at half time in the function I attended, he said names would be made in this game, and names would be lost, as some of you would have done already referring to Mr Houlihan, can he come back from here?

One of our problems is that the "talent" we have on the list isn't where we need it. We need out best players to be in the engine or down the spine, while we fill-up the flanks with the young kids we're growing.

Houlihan, on talent, is in our top group, but he's playing backpocket/halfback. He's a waste of potential on this list. Pagan's got to either play him on the ball.... (as a tagger maybe???) or his talent is wasted on our structure.

I would consider swapping Houlihan for a good player who either plays in the guts or a KP spine player (like a CHF) or a ruckman. Houlihan would be highly regarded by a top team who feel they're just off the top bracket. Houlihan would gun at a team like that. Geelong might consider Houlihan a reasonable replacement for Riccardi, for example.. and might look at him if they don't win the cup this year. Fremantle might have a dip. St.Kilda, even, if they don't win the flag. Houlihan's basically a Fiora who performs.

I like Houlihan. I don't especially see him as soft or a crap player. I think he's good. But, really, he's wasted potential with us, and it doesn't help us one bit having that talent in the back pocket.

Id swap Houlihan to Freo for Ryley Dunn or Ryan Murphy, if either of those blokes had the slightest incling to return home. Dunn over the ball, or Murphy at CHF.

Absolutely he can. He's survived this long. Whats being pointed out isn't new, we'd just hoped it had gone away.

Houla makes the occassional shocker, but as we saw against Geelong his skills can be silky smooth, he's the rolls royce in this team.

Brad is right here. He is, potentially.

But he's like having a Rolls Royce in your garage when you have to ride a pushbike to work 40kms.

We'd be better off with a really comfortable 7-series that we're not afraid to drive everyday.

The modern game is more about decision making and completing passes than just toughness.
No doubt some players are tougher than others, but they are all tougher than anyone sitting in the stands.
Ryan sadly also executed some poor disposal on the weekend along with many others,
That said, basically the best passages of footy we've played this year (season proper) has been Houla to Fev.
What we lack are big men who use their bulk to intimidate.
DeLuca, French, Kouta, Whitnall etc need to make the physical pressure.
That’s the real problem.
