Nice article, says a lot about PP, and Voss in particular. And to think, we coulda had him....

Yep, a good read on a mentally draining Sunday morning.

Well written and honest article.

My guess is Vossy will be our next coach.
I think that will be our next golden age....

See??? i can be a romantic fool too...

But come the end of Voss` career as a footballer.. id be chasing him hard for the Footy Dept.. a year under Denis and away he goes as coach Voss.

Thats what id be doing...

What a contrast between that respectful article from one of the games greatest players and the typical vitriol from Patrick Smith.

Michael Voss would be a very good candidate for AFL Coaching if that is what he chose to do.

Many players from the Lions will be coaches - just as many players from Hawthorns golden age in the 1980's were coaches.

Some will be better than others, but there are quite a few good coaches from multiple premiership winning sides..

Last time we recruited an Premiership Captain from another club he became our Coach of the 20th Century.

The modern day Melbourne is Brisbane.

The modern day Norm Smith is Leigh Mathews.

And the Modern day Ron Barassi is Michael Voss.

The Carlton Football Club has the perfect oppurtunity to repeat history.Hopefully our current board are already putting in plans for post Pagan.

Pagan,Sheedy and Malthouse have all been brilliant in there time. But can anyone honestly see any of these three standing on a premiership dias ever again..............I dont put Mathews in this catergory just yet,coz i feel thje Bears are still a chance, along with the saints and Cats to make it a 3 horse race this year.

Sorry, but the winds of change are sweeping through the coaching ranks, and its the young turks in the coaching ranks are the ones to watch. The old gaurd are being left in there wake.

Like the comparison Mickstar.....

Barassi and Voss .... both ruck rovers / onballers

blah blah blah - Voss, R Robertson (melb), M O'Laughlin (Swans), N Brown (Rich) all barracked for Carlton, loved Princes Park, etc. I'm getting tired of all this emotional stuff!

What elevates Voss above so many others. Amongst many obvious things to like about Voss was this gem in his article.
"I understood right there and then what playing for the jumper meant."
I wish the same could be said for a few of the boys that wear the jumper these days.
Regards Pedro.

One of the things that Voss highlights which should annoy the hell and of us Vics, is that we have removed the 'home ground' advantage that we enjoyed by playing in 'neutral' stadiums. Leaving the interstaters with the advantage.

Another achievement to tick off AFL!
