A place called Chicken !

Chicken was settled by gold miners in the late 1800s and in 1902 the local post office was established requiring a community name. Due to the prevalence of ptarmigan in the area that name was suggested as the official name for the new community, however, the spelling could not be agreed on and Chicken was used to avoid embarrassment.

Chicken is located at 64°4′15″N, 141°52′30″W (64.070738, -141.874894)GR1.

Sorry, you're a bit late. We already discussed the chicken in the first thread. We've moved on to eggs now.

Although a food item, eggs are sometimes thrown at people or things such as houses, cats, and cars. This act, known commonly as egging in the United States, Canada, United Kingdom, Ireland and Australia, is a minor form of vandalism and therefore usually a criminal offense. On Halloween, for example, trick or treaters have been known to throw eggs (and sometimes flour) at property or people from whom they received nothing. Furthermore, egg white can degrade (and sometimes remove) certain kinds of automotive paint. Eggs are also often thrown in protests, as they are inexpensive and nonlethal, yet at the same time very messy when broken. There is also an element of humiliation associated with being covered in an egg's contents, referenced by the phrase "egg on one's face."

Look can we just cease this? The time for this thread to rule the roost has past; now it's just become a cycle of posters poaching each other's yolks.

Soft-boiled humour.

Now thanks to google, I know where the Online Egg Donor Database is, and I am really tempted to buy some Chicken Pictures.

I once heard that Lance de-boned a chicken from across a room in under 7 seconds.....

Believe it or not.

Tony Wilson did a story on Chicken, Alaska in the 2nd series of race around the world. Was ace.

Sorry, I've dragged this thread off topic.

Shell never do that again.
