Having moved all the way through to the Final of the Wiz ( what ever) Cup
DP increased the training level and fitness etc until they were flying on the track.
This 6 week run of losses is normally associated with sides who have a mid season slump.
Is our slump earlier that other teams in a similar position as we had trained to peak at an earlier time?
Sounds like something DP should take the blame for although I couldn't help but agree with him and the AGE journo today who stated that the 2 dramatic points in our game was walker to waite who dropped the mark in the square, and lappin's report and subsequent free kick with 50m attached.
Interesting theory mate - followed up with (excl. nytdog's post) a load of drivel posts...
Whether it is physical, or a mental slump (a honeymoon period after the cup - that could last all year) - it does seem like the boys have dropped a little.
That said, they are still playing with a lot of intensity - much more than we have seen in recent years, but they are getting those flat periods in matches and seem to be struggling to play out the four quarters.
Waite's mark wasn't textbook IIRC, but - being at the game - Lappin's report, free kick - 50m penalty, free kick again down the gorund and mark in Adelaide's goal square was the turning point in the game (even though we got close after that) - a potential 12 point turnaround that took away the momentum.
But I'm not going to bitch because I am over it... the umpires have screwed us over for so long it's hardly surprising.
And if I'm not going to bag the umpires, there's no way I'll be paying out on my own team.
(Like some.)
