Collo: Denis.

Denis: Collo

C: 3 more years?

D: It'd help.

C: Why?

D: Shit list, need to get some real talent in.

C: But the membership/sponsors and stuff.

D: Look we'll go okay this year, then next summer we'll win the Wizzfizz, after that it'll be shit for a year or two.

C: That bad.

D: you know That North game.

C: Never forget it.

D: that's nothing to what's coming.

C: Why?

D: We have a gap between those that once could and those that one day will the size of the grand canyon.

C: and?

D; We need to get past those that could, get real talent into the bottom end and then build them up, build their bodies up and build their team spirit up, oh and we need leaders.

C: This is Carlton we always have leaders.

D: Not any more.

C: So we'll finish low.

D: Lowest Collo, this is not half-arsed stuff here, we are shit, it's time to open the box and let all the crap out. Then we can start working towards that 17th. At the moment we're shifting deckchairs on the titanic.

C: But the supporters.

D: Mainly they'll hate me.

C: Yes they willl.

D: Don't give a toss, this has to be done Collo or this cliub will float around for ten or so more years.

C: You can do it?

D: Yep. But we have to take the shit first, we have to get the fresh talent and start building from there.

C: Got some talent already haven't we.

D: Some good kids none of whom are really ready. But we'll get there Collo, three years say and people will start talking about the list we have, but in three years time, not before.

Collo: You'll be just about done then Denis.

D: Maybe, maybe not, but this club will be ready to explode again.

(they shake hands)

C: Oh Denis

D: I know, if anyone asks you'll never admit this took place, don't worry neither will I.

C: Good luck with the whizzfizz Denis.

D: piece of cake!

C: And the rest?

D:It's gunna hurt like hell!

Should have started the plan last year we would have had Deledio.. (Carlton boy.. who wouldnt talk to the media at draft camp to not give himself a bigger profile in the hope of falling down to us)...and Buddy Franklin could have been good for us...

10 games that we won last year mean nothing this year.
do they???

needed to get the membership up, needed to give the fans a few things first, now the fans are ready to listen.

No more than 2 wins for the rest of the year, play the kids and keep them on the ground.

Good to see the likes of Simmo, Betts, and Walker getting more game time.

We're going to have the use the final year of the draft system with PP's as we know it, to the best advantage as possible.

a fly on the wall so to speak....well listened DB

happy about the 10 last year

.......got the more enthusaism around the place

....showed would could be done short term with sheer enthusiasm and committment alone

....showed that long term talent takes over and the gap is significant

....yesterday at PP...great memories and tradition and pride and success....lets not forget that wrapped up in all the 16 flags from 1897 were a lot of down and out years

......10 wins in 2004 in a life time Synbad?....it's nothing.....this is a journey and we are on it

Even Blind Freddy could see there's a plan in place, and Simple Simon would be able to work out roughly how that plan will be implemented. One just has to read Pagan's post match comments to get an idea. People try to hide behind hyperbole, but at the end of the day there's a bigger picture involved.

3 more wins would be acceptable, as PP is still available if we finish on 5.5 wins.

Wake up and smell the roses ryan2000. Though our list isn't TOTALLY crap it needs a HUGE injection of T-A-L-E-N-T!! We're not exactly brimming with A-grade players. I think your growing hatred of Denis is starting to colour your views somewhat.

Totally agree Bluebernz. Our list lacks talent BIG TIME. Last year just proved we extracted every ounce of effort & capabilities from the list.

Nothing sinister about this, just the reality we need to deal with.

Did you think when we were making the come back Bluey that we would win..???

Were you all nervous and stuff..???

Did you bite your fingers off???

Hyperventilating were you???

Must have been shattered we were pipped by the siren???

Did you play the whole game back in your head and look for little reasons on why we lost??
umpiring decisions???
Did you stand up on your chair and boooooooo the umpires as they trodded off???

Ohhhh if only ?????

Yes i was hoping we didnt mount too much of a come back Mark.. i was worried that one would actually slip away... it was reminiscent of thee 1970 grandfinal only better....
I could see a Big Nick out there...and a Jezza.. and i could see a brilliant Robbie Walls... a Wessie Lofts striking fear in the hearts of opposition forwards.. an absolute freak superstar in the making like Tiger Crosswell.. and a tough inside midfielder like Serge Silvagni....etc etc etc
Mate i really thought we were going to come back and run over the top of them.... how did you know?????

The plan was/is;

Move home ground to Telstra Dome and line "my backers pockets" ....
Get AFL to back move from OO with clauses. Clauses never to become reality and therefore AFL won't be putting any money in for redevelopment. Suckers....Gee members are stupid. :P
Preseason Talk up team and WIN wizard cup and get members/sponsers to signon with false hope .... MONEY IN BANK. 8)
Don't win more than 5 games .... Let opposition do what they please, MUST NOT WIN at any cause more than required games. PRIORITY PICK IS A MUST
Play last game at Optus Oval ..... MORE MONEY FROM CARLTON MEMBERS ... make sure you charge "Carlton" people who are suffering through the nose. Bugger them.
Finish Bottom this year and parade our priority picks for next years membership drive. Finish near bottom next year again and the cycle might continue into 2008 depending of trades.
First AGM show the progress we have made $$$$$$ via the move to Telstra Dome. Nothing to do with membership, last game @ OO or right down of stands being done by now. Following AGM's keep showing $$$$$ profits ever slight but we are redeveloping our training ground (ON our OWN) now.

The Future of Carlton is well and truly budgetted for and in good hands people. Now we have to keep selling the rebuild and keep memberships @ 30,000 until we are ready to play finals footy again (around 2009). :(

Surrey...I'm afraid you are spot on...

Synbad...we had to win last year and do well in the wizard cup as we had sponsors disappearing or wanting to back out (MediPlan and THT)....The whole season last year wasn't necessarily planned but was USED to good effect.

We won't need to tank this year if we play the way we have been and then we will be "parading" the recruits....ios all of that such a bad thing?
Don't think these things are planned...It's more a matter of making the most of the opportunity you have....
I'll support the board and the coach everytime
Go Blues
