the whole website is a heap of junk and an embarrasment to the club. It's like Lance leading us out through the banner with a bit of dunny paper hanging out the back of his shorts

Any news as to what's happening with this?

Because there's now the Swans club song up there as well as a whole bunch of filth crap.

I mean really! Filth propaganda on the Carlton website!

Including ....

WTF!

Audio disparaging the club, on the club's own website.

This is a disgrace.

It's the same on the Richmond website (and I assume all the others as well).

The software that controls that part of the page is a Telstra produced area. There is no-one at CFC that can physically change that.

The club was informed about this last time and said they would ask Telstra to remove the content.

One question is, between this time and the first time you noticed had you been on the same page and seen that the opposition content had been removed? Would be nice to know if it is a recurring problem or just something that has not been fixed yet.

No I haven't been to that section of the site between my two posts, so unfortunately I can't help you there.

Perhaps someone else here can?

Just to make myself clear; I'm not angry with the club, or anyone from the club.

I understand that they can't do anything directly.

I'm sure the club is just as pissed off as me about it all.

Perhaps next time the website contract comes up, we'll strike out on our own; and not go with this Tel$tra crap.

Why has no one from the AFL or Telstra been made accountable for a multi-million dollar website build (via a new provider) that is significantly poorer than what it replaces and is a mile behind every other player in this space? This thing is an embarrassment to our game and anyone who knows anything about the web. Users want accessible, quick, good-looking, logical sites… so I can only assume they are leaving the Telstra AFL network in droves - sportal.com.au, foxsports.com.au, realfooty.com.au all doing it way better!!

I notice that Essendon* website now appears to be under the same bigpond umbrella ... anyone know what happened there, they used to run their own site.

Probably because AndrewD and his dingbat offsider don't have a clue, as usual.

Still going. They just have two sites. :P

The AFL supported one lacks content.

These are just my observations, but I think the internet side of things has suffered a similar fate to the TV side.

The party that won the contract spent far too much on gaining the rights and as a consequence have attempted to re-coup some of the money overpaid by doing thigs as cheaply as possible.

Surely it is naive to assume Dimitriou et el are not aware? Surely? This has been everywhere, from the Grybas slam on AW, Jeff Kennett, all the papers, bigfooty... the list goes on. Is he that out of touch? Or just plain does not care about the fans? I assume the later, but why? Does that Telstra pay check keep him warm at night?

The AFL dont give a shit

slightly off topic but to prove the point - i complained about foxtel and the FTA network most rounds showing the same game at the same time here in perth - and how shit that was and how it meant i missed a game

their answer was to get foxtel (which i already have hence my complaint)

they completely miss the point and dont even understand their own tv deal

spastics !

We deserved more than just the audio from the press conference for Hartlett's debut.

Why do the Pies have more content on their site?

And it "seeps" onto our site?

Carlton's fans support more forums and have as much interest in their side as the Filth, yet our site is piss poor in terms of video content. I don't even bother to look at Carltonfc.com.au for info on players or the teams.

collingwood have ctv with player interviews and behind the scenes stories

we have a cam cloke's 2006 collingwood website player photo with the white stripes of his collingwood jumper coloured in blue

I think that sums up where we're at re. the website.

Wow! Just Wow!

I read that and thought "surely he's kidding, that can't possible be true."

But he's not, and it is.

The sooner this happens, the better.

Collingwood put more money into their site, have more staff working on it (including video specialists) thus higher volume and better quality content. This is not the problem. If Carlton could afford to spend more money on site content theirs would be better. The problem is the non-flexible, generic, extremely slow, cluttered, ugly, non-AFL friendly template and the prehistoric, non-sensicle, non-AFL friendly administration system that the club has to work with.... a tradesman in this case can rightly blame his tools. PS Can this thread please be renamed to 'Official site and AFL Telstra network a disgrace'?
